Publisher's Summary
Despite the efforts of several of the fatemarked, turmoil and violence continue to plague the Four Kingdoms.
To the north, Annise Gäric ventures into the Hinterlands to discover the truth of the Sleeping Knights, who may be the only hope for her kingdom. Meanwhile, Tarin Sheary travels to Darrin in a desperate bid to repel the eastern forces amassing at Crow's Nest. Unbeknownst to either of them, a new threat rises in Blackstone.
In the west, Rhea Loren seeks to ransom her prisoners, Gareth Ironclad and Gwendolyn Storm, which will bring her one step closer to her goal of controlling the fatemarked. Relying on her ability to summon the ancient sea creature, Wrathos, she seeks to unify her people while persuading them that the child growing inside her was placed there directly by Wrath.
With his fatemarked sister in tow, Grey Arris sails toward Pirate's Peril in search of the truth about Shae's marking and the cause of her recurring dream of a pirate.
In the southern empire of Phanes, a slave rebellion is brewing, with Jai Jiroux and Shanti Parthena Laude at its core. But the Hoza brothers will not relinquish their power without a fight.
Finally, in Calyp, Raven Sandes' dragonia are growing, and she must decide whether to use them against the east, who continue to attack her desert borders. Simultaneously, Roan Loren shows up at her palace with an offer she cannot refuse, as he strives to learn the truth of the Western Oracle's prophecies and the origins of the fatemarked.
As always, Bane is lurking in the shadows with his new partner, Chavos the plaguemarked, plotting how to destroy those who would stand in the path of peace.

Overall a good listen
The story is great, I enjoy the writing style, and the time taken to elaborate on scenes, which put you in the same room as these heroes.
My only complaint, and this goes for the books before aswell, are the postlude stories. I dont mind getting more back story on characters, but I wish these events were more tied into the main story (almost all of them cover the past of charcters). Granted these stories show another level of interwoven depth to the relationships we already see in these epics, but c'mon 4-6 hours after every book of 1-5 shorts following what I consider mostly B line characters. I ofc don't want to miss anything that might be crucial for the next book, so I listen to them all. Some are better than others, but I feel a little annoyed when some of them really don't matter for the progression of the main story. The biggest of these which I'll warn you now *spoilers* if you haven't listened to this one yet, is the Beggar or the plague marked. This character had a whole extra short added to the previous book, and then was pretty much unceremoniously killed off by Bane, after serving no real purpose in the story, other than to give bane someone to talk to / build his own character development. By the time I get into the next book, and back to our main heroes in the proper time of the epic, I feel like a kicker that just got iced.
I know that was alot right there, and I hope I didn't push you away from the series, cause it is a good one. I have already gotten the next book, and plan on finishing the series. I'm also 4/5 books in David's kingfall series (waiting on the 5th to release). Either way I'll let you be the real judge, and I understand that some others may actually really enjoy the extra stories at the end.
Happy listening!

Millennial era nonsense
It was like listening to a 7th grade orchestra. No expertise, at all, In story telling. A pair of kings who were actually queens. And obese princess become Queen. No one more adult than a 12 year old. All childish guilt and foolish secrets. I hoped this was a trilogy so I would be done. I was expecting some cross-dressers to appear.(glad they didn't) Won't listen any further.

1 & 2 are better but this one is still good.
Gwen is a great character I wish that the author would have done a better job with the Roan character who comes across as being wimpy and whiny and yet has both males and females falling madly in love with him. I guess it's the authors way of being PC. Love the Annise character, a good balance of strong, compassionate, insecure, intelligent and loving. Rhea is just mental . . . enough said. I would have liked to have heard more of Raven and Grey, both started off as interesting characters but have been unimpressive as of late. The author has decided to make Roan the hero of the series which is too bad since he's the one character that does nothing for me.
