Publisher's Summary

“Political correctness” has taken politeness and turned it into a weapon of censorship and intimidation. In the workplace, on social media, and even at the dinner table, Americans are confronted daily with a laundry list of words they’re “not allowed” to say - and that list is updated constantly and without warning.

How did so absurd a concept become so dangerous - and come to dominate our public discourse over the last quarter-century?

In Speechless, number one nationally best-selling author and political commentator Michael Knowles masterfully traces the history and effects of political correctness from the early 20th century to the present, revealing its insidious roots, exposing the power-hungry language architects behind its ever-growing control, and examining what this concerted manipulation of speech means for the future of American culture, politics, and minds.

Enlightening

I really loved book and the narrator. He breaks down concepts in a concise manner. This is a rare book which provides insight into lefts perspectives from a Conservative point of view.

Gives context & clarity to our political insanity

Knowles gives a thorough breakdown of the steps politics has taken to bring us where we are today. Has a strong grasp of political context and frames it very well. If it seems like we're living in crazy times you might be surprised how honest the deviants that lead us here were about their intentions.

If our culture is going to find the will to remain, there aren't many better than Knowles to frame that path to doing so

Great listen!

Read this, as a reminder to what is really going on. To what end, one might ask? It remains to be seen. Interesting times.

A political survival guide for decent people

Most people probably feel alienated by today's political debates, feeling that it has been hijacked by the extremes on both ends of the spectrum. Michael Knowles's excellent book explains a great deal of how this happens, and what might be done about it.

Unfortunately, the book is unlikely to be read by many on the Left, or Left-of-Center, but I think it would be extremely valuable for them too. One important takeaway from Speechless is that, apart from the usual Left-vs-Right dynamic, there is a greater fight between those who want to defend and improve modern Western society, and those who want to undermine it and tear it down. And if your goal is to destroy (perhaps under the illusion that you can create something better), you don't have a problem taking a wrecking ball to debate rules as well. Knowles shines a light on how this is done, and demonstrates the consequences. He also argues convincingly that some defenses are not just ineffective, but end up being used against you.

Great Book!

An in-depth analysis of the roots of political correctness and how it's progressed into the discord of almost all aspects of American society and this book can be broadly applied to how political correctness is yielded across the Western World as a whole, too. Additionally, this book outlines how the right can combat the illogical rationale that political correctness has evolved into.

This is a must read book!

Michael Knowles covered every major topic like political correctness, critical race theory, and just about everything else that the political left tries to force on this population. This book is perfect and I cannot recommend it enough!
