À propos de cet audio
He’s on edge while she’s en pointe in this fake-dating sports romance from the author of the smash hit Collide.
Elias Westbrook, a newly drafted hockey player for the Toronto Thunder, is facing the challenges of fame and media scrutiny. With a growing fan base and too many expectations on his shoulders, he’s struggling to make his first career goal. The tabloids are reporting on his every move, including which woman he was last seen with, but all he wants to do is escape the spotlight.
Enter from stage left Sage Beaumont, an aspiring ballerina with dreams of joining the Aurora Ballet Theatre, but her lack of popularity online leaves her at a major disadvantage for securing the lead role. When Sage finds herself with the perfect opportunity to make her dreams come true by fake dating Elias, she takes her shot.
Soon enough, the flimsy fake-dating rules they set in place fall away in the face of their sizzling connection. But before things spiral out of control, Sage and Elias will have to decide if they’re willing to take the leap together or if they'll call it quits.
Ce que les critiques en disent
"[Eli and Sage] are constantly switching between selves — the confident professional, the traumatized child, the teasing friend — and the book’s emotional journey lies in finding where their real, solid truths lie."—New York Times
“Bal Khabra is a master of banter, swoon, and lovable characters. I dare you to try and read one of her novels in more than one sitting — they're simply unputdownable."—Hannah Bonam-Young, USA Today bestselling author of Out on a Limb
“Spiral is fake dating goodness filled with delicious tension and overwhelming tenderness. These two had me kicking my feet.”—Lana Ferguson, USA Today bestselling author of The Nanny
“Khabra’s skillful portrayal of her characters’ personal struggles and their growing bond makes for an engaging read that goes beyond the typical sports romance formula. Thanks to its well-paced narrative and ample steamy moments, readers will find themselves engrossed in this hockey-meets-ballet romance.”—Library Journal
“The diverse cast is refreshing in a subgenre that is still overwhelmingly white and the leads are lovable… fans of book one will enjoy this steamy return to the rink.”—Publishers Weekly

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW! 🩷
The audiobook felt almost perfect! I KNOW DON’T HATE ME! I would say it’s 4/5 stars for the audiobook! I honestly felt that Aaron was fantastic, you could feel he connected with Elias’s character! In terms of Nia Serge, I loved her narration work but I will say I wish we felt more with her! It almost felt like there was a tiny distance between her and Saje. But the story was fantastic for both characters and their development both separately and together! I honestly believe a Duet style narration would have worked perfectly here and could make it a 4.75/5 ⭐️. But either way still an amazing book and such a good rating!
PHYSICAL REVIEW🩷
I absolutely adored this book! It was just as incredible as Collide! I only wish I could’ve finished it faster, but let’s blame that on school! Elias and Sage’s journey was everything—I loved their chemistry and how naturally their story unfolded. The pacing was smooth and seamless, never feeling forced or unrealistic.
Speaking of unrealistic… let’s just say their connection was anything but fake! From their very first interaction, the spark between them was undeniable. Elias is such a sweetheart, always willing to protect Sage, but what makes their relationship so special is that she truly sees him for who he is.
Sage was an absolute firecracker—witty, flirty, and bursting with confidence (which I love in a leading lady). And then there’s Elias, our soft-hearted, shy, and reserved hockey player. Having a male lead in sports romance who isn’t cocky, arrogant, or full of ego was such a refreshing change—one I didn’t realize I needed!
Their dynamic? Absolute perfection.
This book was so overdue! I needed this sooo much sooner but I am so glad it finally got released and I read it! It was a great way to end January of 2025!

DEFINITELY A WINTER READ

I loved this book. It had some little Canadianisms without stereotypes being shoved down your throat which I greatly appreciated. I believed moving away from the college setting really increased my enjoyment of this story compared to book one.
These characters were well developed with similar backgrounds that led to life outcomes on the opposite ends of the spectrum, while still connecting them in a way that allowed for deeper understanding of one another.
The FMC has guardianship of her younger brother after her parents took off to evade arrest related to drug involvement. I respect that while she was working hard to provide for her brother, she never compromised on her own dreams as a prima ballerina for the production of Swan Lake for the company of her dreams. She worked hard to make ends meet, parented a teenaged brother, refused to take handouts from her well off uncle and eventually, learned to lower her wall to be vulnerable with and accept help from the MMC.
We often read about hockey superstars in romance books, but I loved that we had the opportunity to see more of the struggles of being a professional athlete. Our MMC is painted as a playboy even though he's the furthest thing from it. He's also struggling to perform the way he, his team and team management expected him to perform under the pressure of his rookie season. Additionally, he's dealing with his own personal life issues that no one is aware of.
I loved that there was no third act break up in this story. These characters genuinely deserved to be happy and work through some of their trials with the support of one another.
I enjoyed Bal Khabra's style in this book and noticed an improvement in her writing from book one.
