When he encounters a young boy, Léon, who is running from his abusive brother, Avon employs the boy as his page, parading him around parties and other society events in full view of his bitter rival, the Comte de Saint-Vire. But the truth is soon uncovered: Léon is a girl named Léonie and is actually the legitimate child of the Comte and his wife. While Avon is intent on his plan to reveal the Comte’s duplicity and ruin him, he is charmed by Léonie’s kindness, falls in love, and becomes a changed man.

Publisher's Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
He thought he could set her on a better path. But they might both wander astray....
Sir Gareth Ludlow never truly recovered from the death of his fiancée. Years later, a chance encounter with Amanda, a young and devastatingly pretty runaway, inspires him to try to do the right thing and to set her on a path towards a good life.
But Sir Gareth has been neck-deep in a life of debauchery and hedonism ever since his fiancée's death, and Amanda's startlingly lively imagination proves to be more than he'd bargained for. As they both become increasingly entangled in Sir Gareth's scheme, it seems more and more difficult for either of them to lead the life they should....
A witty and delightful historical novel, Sprig Muslin shows why Georgette Heyer has such a huge and devoted readership to this day.

Sprig Muslin, good story, poor performance
This is one of my favourite Georgette Heyer Regency novels and I looked forward to adding it to my audible library. Unfortunately reading a book aloud to others requires a special talent which the actor who recorded this version of Sprig Muslin does not posses. She sounds almost bored at times, mispronounces words frequently, and has problems with the voices and accents she has to differentiate between (admittedly hard to do in this novel as there are many conversations between 4-5 different people, male and female). This is better than nothing - but only just.

Sprig muslin
This is the first Georgette heyer novel that I was wishing to end. The person reading it constantly mispronounced words and her accent was terrible.
She sounded as if she couldn’t wait to finish the book and she wasn’t the only one. I shall make sure I will make sure never to get the same reader.
