Story
A former Delta Force commander, Brad Taylor proves with this breathtaking debut thriller that Vince Flynn and Brad Thor have company. A collection of top operatives, the Taskforce was commissioned by the highest levels of government, kept secret from the media and even Congress. The best of the Taskforce bunch, Pike Logan knows the greatest threat to American security is one or two idealogues. Unfortunately for them, they’ve just crossed Pike’s path.

Story
On his last combat deployment, Lt. Cmdr. James Reece's entire team was killed in an ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them. But when those dearest to him are murdered on the day of his homecoming, Reece discovers that this was not an act of war by a foreign enemy but a conspiracy that runs to the highest levels of government. Now, with no family and free from the military's command structure, Reece applies the lessons that he's learned in over a decade of constant warfare toward revenge.

Story
A major North American hydroelectric dam is blown up and the largest off-shore oil field in this hemisphere is destroyed in a brutal, coordinated terrorist attack. But there was one factor that the terrorists didn't take into account when they struck the Capitana platform off the coast of Colombia—slaughtering much of the crew and blowing up the platform—and that was the Capitana crew chief Dewey Andreas. Dewey, former Army Ranger and Delta, survives the attack, rescuing as many of his men as possible. But the battle has just begun.

Publisher's Summary
Number-one New York Times best-selling author Brad Thor returns with his latest action-packed Scot Harvath thriller.
Across Europe, a secret organization has begun attacking diplomats. Back in the United States, a foreign ally demands the identity of a highly placed covert asset. In the balance hang the ingredients for all-out war.
With his mentor out of the game, counterterrorism operative Scot Harvath must take on the role he has spent his career avoiding. But, as with everything else he does, he intends to rewrite the rules - all of them.
In Spymaster, Scot Harvath is more cunning, more dangerous, and deadlier than ever before.

Top 5
Love the story of this book and the performance. I’ve listened and read all of the scot Harvarth series and this is one of the best ones if not my favourite in the series.

Excellent, but not as good as usual for Thor!
SPYMASTER is the 18th Brad Thor novel with 17 being in the Scot Harvath series and 1 being The Athena Project. I've rated fourteen of the eighteen 5 stars and three before this one 4 stars. For a writer with the proved talent of Brad Thor Spymaster is a disappointment. If Spymaster were released by a lesser author I would certainly award it 5 stars. Finally, SPYMASTER ends in a cliffhanger which is a definite negative on the part of an author that releases one novel a year. Even if Spymaster were the best novel I had ever read (and it certainly is not) the ending, literally the last two sentences, would cause me to down rate it since there was no prior notification to the reader of a cliffhanger. Narration by Armand Schultz in excellent.

Thor’s on top
Another great novel for Thor’s Scott Harvath, lots of incredible action sequences and further character dev. In 2 weeks it will have thousands of reviews but I’ve read them all and this is an excellent narrator and yet another winning storyline!

One of Thor's best, Schultz still consistent
This has to be one of Brad Thor's best thrillers so far. Over the years, I have slightly fallen out of love with Thor's novels for various reasons, but I am back on board. This is a fantastic novel that I can't recommend enough. There still are a few things that I've noticed Thor does every book. It's when the villain is speaking and they say, "We will, as the American's say, blah blah blah." I can't stand when authors throw that into novels just to drop an English expression.
As far as Armand Schultz goes, it is the same as the other Thor novels, so if you enjoyed those audiobooks, you'll enjoy this. I can't give it 5-stars, because if I think of Guidall, Porter, or Snyder doing this book, I know I would like it more, and Schultz just has a different reading style. It's a little more clipped and not as smooth.
Overall, a great story and above-average narrating. If you enjoy thriller books, you'll like this a lot. If narration is super important, maybe try the Sample first before purchasing, but if you don't get the audiobook, get the book itself, because the story is incredible.

Boring
This story is told through huge amounts of “telling” and not near enough “showing.” That is, lots and lots of talky-talk and not near enough dramatic scenes through which the characters act. The writing is not emotionally involving. It was like listening to a news article being read. My wife & I listened to it on a vacation drive. She thought it was boring, too.

Sounded like a documentary on the history channel.
80% Narrator 20% dialogue. Weak characters due to the lack of dialogue. What dialogue was there is sounded like 7th grade level. Would lose interest when there was 10 to 15 mins of backstory on something that didnt matter to the story. Then one line of dialogue followed by 15 mins of meaningless backstory. The way the narrator speaks sounds like something you hear on the History channel.

Best one ever!
I have read all the books by Bras Thor and I just have to say this was the best one ever. It brought together all the previous history of the characters and also gave us a surprise ending. Loved it!
