Publisher's Summary

For innkeeper Holly White, Christmas time in Mistletoe, Maine, is the ultimate holiday gift. Business at the Reindeer Games Inn is booming, her wedding to Sheriff Evan Gray is nearly here, and the annual parade is about to begin. The town is lucky to have another gift this year with the state’s ballet company staying for several performances of The Nutcracker. But disaster strikes when Tiffany, the lead ballerina, shows up dead on a float during the parade, the Rat King’s mask nearby. Holly will have to spruce up her sleuthing skills if she wants to catch the killer before Christmas—and her wedding day.

Immediately, Holly discovers that Tiffany had more than a few secrets. She finds out that the star of the show had a super fan that no one knows anything about. And the show’s understudy slips some other intriguing information Holly’s way: not only was Tiffany secretly seeing someone romantically, but there seems to be more than one rat in this company. When Holly discovers a secret passage leading to Tiffany’s dressing room, with footprints leading out, she wonders if this is evidence of a secret lover—or a stalking killer.

With an impending snowstorm and the ballet company on the way out of town, Holly must act quickly if she wants to find the person responsible for this terrible murder. Will she be able to save Christmas—or will her investigation turn cold like the weather?

Fun Holiday Themed Murder Mystery

I’ve listened to the entire Christmas Tree Farm Mystery Series and overall I’d say the books are all light-hearted murder mysteries with a cozy holiday feel. I got through them all pretty quickly and they were easy to listen to. The series is an enjoyable listen during the holiday season when you just want to curl up in a warm blanket with a hot festive beverage of choice. What puts this at a 3/5 for me is the inconsistencies between each book. In one book the main character is 6 inches taller than her mother and then in another she’s only 4 inches taller and then she goes back to being 6 inches taller in the next book. In the first book one of the supporting characters is supposed to have two nieces in the next book, they are an only child. In the first book, that same supporting character’s parents’ professions are one thing and then in the succeeding novels, they change. They’re minor details but it makes the writing feel sloppy. I found that relationship between the main character and her love interest to be strange and underdeveloped. One moment, it’s not clear if they’re even together and then all of a sudden things go from 0 to 100 and it feels forced. I thought the performance was pretty good. The mom and the best friend character do sound identical but other than that, it was well done. These books are not the work of Agatha Christie, but they are still a great listen to get you excited for the holidays.

The Magic of Christmas and true love

Another Christmas magical story from the town of Mistletoe. Love the dedication of love Evan has for Holy, the support of family and community and the love of life, fun and laughter brought to you by Cookie. Another mystery solved and a wedding of true love. Who could ask for a better read as Christmas approaches. ♥️🎄
