Publisher's Summary

An apocalypse. An epic change in biology. Humanity’s new powers. No instructions. So, everyone created their own!

Born over a century after "The Rise", Jeff scavenges with his tyrannical mother for survival. Banned from cultivating freely, Jeff wants none of this life; his one objective is to join the immortal rankers as they attempt to climb the Northern Tower. On the day of his escape, a powerful guild attacks Leah’s group, and Jeff is thrown through a unique dungeon portal—a portal that hasn’t been used in nearly a hundred years.

In the pursuit of Jeff’s ultimate goal, he must choose whether to follow the Church, join a guild, or try it all on his own. Predators don’t only come from dungeons, and he must dig through mountains of misinformation for one straight answer.

When spells and skills unleash chaos, a special blue screen powers up, and Jeff’s journey to the peak or the grave begins.

YUP!!! LitRPG done correctly

RPG elements that don't drone on and on with pages of stats. The stats are there, the mana system is there, they are explained, but not rambled on and on for pages or after each chapter. Protagonist is young, but not a baby who cries all the way through the novel.

I love the ranking and magic systems. Pacing was great. Obviously just waiting for more.

I hate waiting for sequels

Good mix of cultivation and western post apocalyptic. The MC is young, but I enjoyed his exploration of the world and discovery of cultivation.

Great Book

I loved this book and can’t wait for the next instalment. The story is action packed and easy to follow once you understand the cultivation bits 😊.

Not worth it.

I was expecting better from the author of Ether Collapse. By far the most confusing story with an ever confusing world system, set of powers, characters and story. The protagonist is a bundle of nerves without any remedying qualities, the side characters and the antagonist are not properly defined. Six hours in, the book is still explaining powers and the protagonist has yet to attain any real abilities or skills. The adventure is lackluster and the story seem to only highlight the protagonist's many woes. I will not get into details; but there is reason why the character is neurotic and it is tragic. However, it is not something I am looking for my main character to be for my escape to adventure.
The only amazing this to this audio books is the narration of Steve Campbell, Andrea Parsneau. Amazing voice acting.
