Story
On the night of the school prom, a young teacher is found dead in the Thames in a drug-related accident. It seems - at first - to be another sign that Cherringham High is spiralling out of control. The new head however is convinced that the teacher's death is suspicious and quietly calls in Sarah Edwards. With her one-time detective partner, Jack Brennan, back in America, Sarah is at first reluctant to take on the case. But when she does get involved, it soon becomes clear that the tragic accident might really be a case of murder - and even Sarah herself could be in danger.

Story
As the sun rises, a wealthy young woman, Samantha Seabrook, is found drowned in the ornamental fountain of a deserted Cambridge courtyard, the only clue: an antique silver chain wound tightly around her throat. It’s Tara Thorpe’s job to discover what happened to Miss Seabrook. But the case becomes personal when she learns that Samantha had been receiving death threats, rather like the one that landed on Tara’s doorstep the night the woman died. Together with Detective Inspector Garstin Blake, Tara tracks the killer to the dank and dangerous fens on the outskirts of the city.

Publisher's Summary
When the Veteran Head of Botanicals at the world-famous Cherringham Gin Company is suddenly found dead at the Distillery, it seems at first a strange accident must have taken place. But some family members aren’t convinced, and Jack and Sarah are asked to investigate by old friend, solicitor Tony Standish. Soon they discover clues that the eccentric genius behind the famous gin may have been murdered - with a rich cocktail of motives in play. Can the bizarre mystery be solved and the killer found before he strikes again?
Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo: English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack. Thrilling and deadly - but with a spot of tea - it's like Rosamunde Pilcher meets Inspector Barnaby. Each of the self-contained episodes is a quick read for the morning commute, while waiting for the doctor, or when curling up with a hot cuppa.
Co-authors Neil Richards (based in the UK) and Matthew Costello (based in the US), have been writing together since the mid-90s, creating content and working on projects for the BBC, Disney Channel, Sony, ABC, Eidos, and Nintendo to name but a few. Their transatlantic collaboration has underpinned scores of TV drama scripts, computer games, radio shows, and the best-selling mystery series Cherringham. Their latest series project is called Mydworth Mysteries.
The narrator of the audiobook, Neil Dudgeon, has been in many British television programmes including the roles of 'DCI John Barnaby' in Midsomer Murders and 'Jim Riley' in The Life of Riley. He is also known for his film roles in The Nativity, Sorted and Son of Rambow. In 2012 Dudgeon starred as 'Norman Birkett' on BBC Radio 4's Afternoon Play series written by Caroline and David Stafford.

Wonderful series
Why is this series of stories not a television series? Diverse storylines, great character development set in a idyllic British village.

Love the stories, excellent co-authorship. Neil Dudgeon outstanding actor, but voice fry grating not very pleasant
I normally give these most excellent short stories 5 stars across the ratings, but the outstanding actor, Neil Dudgeon , is progressing into the unpleasant habit of voice fry that makes listening somewhat trying. Rest dear sir, you do have a lovely voice, i am sure this will resolved if addressed w a voice coach

Great series Jack and Sarah are very clever and do a great job
I love this series. I hate that it takes so long before I get to listen to the next one. I keep hoping that Sarah and jack will get together. Neil Dudgeon does a great job of narration. I now have to wait until May for the next one. Much to long.

Great as usual
Wonderful series, both charming and engaging. Oddly comforting. I guess that’s the point of the “cozy mystery“, but unlike others this does not have a cloying quality.

Needs to work on American accents…all sound the same
Mr Dudgeon ‘s American accents all sound like Jack. And his accent for Jack is certainly not from NYC

More twists and turns!
I do love this series, the shorts and the full length (hope we get more of those, please), and there have been some with plot twists but in this one are the "good" guys really the "bad" guys? Keep reading and you will surely find out!
