Story
In the wake of tragedy, neither Lazlo nor Sarai are who they were before. One a god, the other a ghost, they struggle to grasp the new boundaries of their selves as dark-minded Minya holds them hostage, intent on vengeance against Weep. Lazlo faces an unthinkable choice—save the woman he loves, or everyone else?—while Sarai feels more helpless than ever. But is she? Sometimes, only the direst need can teach us our own depths, and Sarai, the muse of nightmares, has not yet discovered what she's capable of.

Story
Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky. In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grown dangerously low. And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherwordly war. Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real; she's prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands"; she speaks many languages—not all of them human; and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color.

Bayr of Saylok, bastard son of a powerful and jealous chieftain, is haunted by the curse once leveled by his dying mother. Bartered, abandoned, and rarely loved, she plagued the land with her words: From this day forward, there will be no daughters in Saylok. Raised among the Keepers at Temple Hill, Bayr is gifted with inhuman strength. But he’s also blessed with an all-too-human heart that beats with one purpose: to protect Alba, the first girl child born in nearly two decades and the salvation for a country at risk.

Story
Deadly storms have ravaged Mina’s homeland for generations. Floods sweep away entire villages, while bloody wars are waged over the few remaining resources. Her people believe the Sea God, once their protector, now curses them with death and despair. In an attempt to appease him, each year a beautiful maiden is thrown into the sea to serve as the Sea God’s bride, in the hopes that one day the “true bride” will be chosen and end the suffering.

Publisher's Summary
A new epic fantasy by National Book Award finalist and New York Times best-selling author Laini Taylor of the Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy.
The dream chooses the dreamer, not the other way around - and Lazlo Strange, war orphan and junior librarian, has always feared that his dream chose poorly. Since he was five years old, he's been obsessed with the mythic lost city of Weep, but it would take someone bolder than he to cross half the world in search of it. Then a stunning opportunity presents itself in the person of a hero called the Godslayer and a band of legendary warriors, and he has to seize his chance or lose his dream forever.
What happened in Weep 200 years ago to cut it off from the rest of the world? What exactly did the Godslayer slay that went by the name of god? And what is the mysterious problem he now seeks help in solving?
The answers await in Weep, but so do more mysteries - including the blue-skinned goddess who appears in Lazlo's dreams. How did he dream her before he knew she existed? And if all the gods are dead, why does she seem so real?
In this sweeping and breathtaking new novel by National Book Award finalist Laini Taylor, author of the New York Times best-selling Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy, the shadow of the past is as real as the ghosts who haunt the citadel of murdered gods. Fall into a mythical world of dread and wonder, moths and nightmares, love and carnage.
Welcome to Weep.

Incredible overall
I really enjoyed this - the level of imagination on the part of the author was sublime.
I also really enjoy Steve West’s narrative ability, this is one of several novels I’ve listed to that have been narrated by him and it is always a pleasure.

I couldn’t stop listening
This was a masterpiece. The way the story was told was very clever. I could see many of the story lines coming but the writer would double back on different perspectives which I enjoyed so much. I devoured this book and the second in the series.

Beautifully written, keeps you hooked. I’m not a fantasy fanatic but just gave this a go and was enchanted by the performance and unpredictability of the plot. Give it a go!

Amazing Narrator
This book is strange but in a really good and beautiful way. The narrator killed it! I actually think this book was performed so well that the physical copy wouldn't hold up for me.

One of the best fantasy audiobooks I have eveheare
Steve West's enchanting narration opens up a world of wonder. I loved this book so much and am ready to immediately jump into book 2. Though some elements of the story are a bit predictable (the author uses liberal amounts of foreshadowing) the world building in this story is exquisite. You'll become just as enamoured with Weep as Lazlo is.

Best. Book. Ever.
Everything about this novel was perfect. The story, the narrator, everything! Laini Taylor is such an amazing writer. The narrator couldn't have been more perfect for this story. He changed his voice for each character making it so easy for the listener to enjoy the story. #audible1. Highly recommend!
