À propos de cet audio

From National Book Award finalist Laini Taylor comes an epic fantasy about a mythic lost city and its dark past.

The dream chooses the dreamer, not the other way around--and Lazlo Strange, war orphan and junior librarian, has always feared that his dream chose poorly. Since he was just five years old, he's been obsessed with the mythic lost city of Weep, but it would take someone bolder than he to cross half the world in search of it. Then a stunning opportunity presents itself, in the form of a hero called the Godslayer and a band of legendary warriors, and he has to seize his chance or lose his dream forever.

What happened in Weep two hundred years ago to cut it off from the rest of the world? And who is the blue-skinned goddess who appears in Lazlo's dreams?

In this sweeping and breathtaking novel by National Book Award finalist Laini Taylor, author of the New York Times bestselling Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy, the shadow of the past is as real as the ghosts who haunt the citadel of murdered gods. Fall into a mythical world of dread and wonder, moths and nightmares, love and carnage.

The answers await in Weep.

Strange the Dreamer is the best book I've listened to all year! An epic tale; I'm so thankful it doesn't have to end! On to The Muse of Nightmares!

Absolutely amazing!

This was a masterpiece. The way the story was told was very clever. I could see many of the story lines coming but the writer would double back on different perspectives which I enjoyed so much. I devoured this book and the second in the series.

I couldn’t stop listening

I really enjoyed this - the level of imagination on the part of the author was sublime.
I also really enjoy Steve West’s narrative ability, this is one of several novels I’ve listed to that have been narrated by him and it is always a pleasure.

Incredible overall

In another classic case of "How have I not read this already?": STRANGE THE DREAMER. Everything about this felt fresh and magical and wonderful, from the inventive setting and world, to the unique and complex characters, to the engaging story and stunning prose, there's a reason STRANGE THE DREAMER will be a classic.

The story follows a young librarian who dreams of a forgotten city and the legends behind it, as well as a young woman who is one of those legends. As the librarian travels to the magical city, he quickly learns the harsh and dark truths behind the myths, and the goddess must confront her own truths.

Lazlo and Sarai are fantastic. Both of them beautiful, bold minds with compassionate hearts who become tangled in each other as part of a grand love story. The side characters are all brilliant and layered, which is perfect for this story about broken people trying to survive and find their way.

The story would be considered slow these days, but I always wanted to be with the characters. Their scenes and relationships were very engaging, especially as the dark truths began coming out. I couldn't get enough of their stories, especially once that devastating ending came about.

Taylor's writing is truly beautiful and fits the narrative exquisitely, even and especially during the action scenes. Her creative mind is on full display, allowing for a story and a world unlike anything I've ever read before. I can't recommend this book enough to readers young and old. I can't wait to see how the series ends!

Creative and Gorgeous
