Story
Living with his little brother, Fudge, makes Peter Hatcher feel like a fourth grade nothing. Whether Fudge is throwing a temper tantrum in a shoe store, smearing mashed potatoes on the walls at Hamburger Heaven, or scribbling all over Peter's homework, he's never far from trouble. He's a two-year-old terror who gets away with everything, and Peter's had enough.

Story
Nicky has freckles - they cover his face, his ears, and the whole back of his neck. Sitting behind him in class, Andrew once counted 86 of them, and that was just a start! If Andrew had freckles like Nicky, his mother would never know if his neck was dirty. One day after school, Andrew works up enough courage to ask Nicky where he got his freckles. When know-it-all Sharon overhears, she offers Andrew her secret freckle-juice recipe - if he pays. Andrew is desperate and feels it's worth it. At home he carefully mixes the strange combination of ingredients. Then the unexpected happens.

Story
Being a kid can really stink. And no one knows this better than Greg Heffley, who finds himself thrust into middle school, where undersized weaklings share the hallways with kids who are taller, meaner, and already shaving. In Diary of a Wimpy Kid, author and illustrator Jeff Kinney introduces us to an unlikely hero. As Greg says in his diary: Just don't expect me to be all "Dear Diary" this and "Dear Diary" that. Luckily for us, what Greg Heffley says he won’t do and what he actually does are two very different things.

Publisher's Summary
As fans of Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing already know, nothing is simple for Peter Hatcher. He is far from overjoyed at the turn the family fortunes are taking. It looks as if Peter will be spending the sixth grade far from Central Park, Sheila Tubman, Jimmy Fargo and Henry the doorman. (He won't miss Sheila.) And it also looks as is Fudge will no longer be the baby of the family. How will Peter ever survive if his new sibling is a carbon copy of Fudge?
But as Fudge fans know, bad news for Peter generally means good news for Judy Blume's readers, in the form of a very funny story.
They won't be disappointed!
What the critics say
Praise for Judy Blume and the Fudge books:
“Each [Fudge book] is packed with wacky earthy disasters that are her trademark and that children love to read about.... Judy Blume has a knack for knowing what children think about and an honest, highly amusing way of writing about it.” (The New York Times)
“It’s a pleasure to watch a talented author like Judy Blume consistently create books that reflect a remarkable ability for combining humor with perceptive insight into a child’s world.” (Publishers Weekly)
“Blume has her eye on the fine details of life, whether funny or frustrating.” (Booklist)

She killed Santa, and the magic for my kids.
I can’t believe that in a book for kids the author just decides to killed the magic that we parents work so hard to keep. Avoid this book, or at least skip chapter 10.

Careful!
This was a great audio book, but I caution parents of young children. There are discussions about Santa that had me scrambling to turn the volume. However, my 6 year old and my 3 year old keep asking to listen to Fudge again.

A great story
This has a hero for everyone -- mine's the ever challenged mom, my daughter loves the annoyed but earnest big brother, and of course our 4 year old loves the mischevious fudgie. After listening to this we had to read all four books in the series. Thank you Judy Blume!!

Busting the belief in Santa
Why in the world does Judy have to blow the Santa Claus belief???? I had no idea and my 5, 7 and 9 year olds still believe. I was so disappointed that they learned the truth in a children’s audio book and not on my timing. So disappointed.

Santa Doesn't Exist
What did you like best about Superfudge? What did you like least?
Another classic Judy Blume book. My 7 and 8 year old love her books. We listen to the audio books as a family in the car. Why but why does Judy Blume dedicate a portion of this book to Peter (main character and older sibling) telling our children that Santa does not exist...that parents buy the gifts...that parents find places to hide the gifts. But it's Judy Blume, right? I was so sure Judy was going to clear this up by the end of the book that we all continued listening. Bad idea...she confirms that Santa doesn't exist by having Peter's brother (a Kindergartener) say, of course he knows Santa doesn't exist, he just keeps the game going so he parents think he believes. I wish someone would have warned me. I never thought Judy Blume would be the one to open my kids to the idea that Santa is not real. Shame, shame on you, Judy Blume.
Has Superfudge turned you off from other books in this genre?
I was very surprised having the topic of Santa in this book. I will be sure to read reviews of Judy Blume books before having my kids read them to ensure there are no inappropriate topics.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Judy Blume?
A male voice.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Absolutely not.
Any additional comments?
There should be a warning for parents of kids who do not want the idea of Santa being questioned.

WARNING!!! She ruins Santa!!
I wish, oh how I wish, I’d read the reviews before listening to this with my 7yo. She destroys the belief in Santa, but I thought that she would, for sure, clear this up since it’s a children’s book...nope! She hammered it home that he’s not real, actually. I tried to fast forward, but my daughter caught me, which just drew more attention to the content. I’m beside myself!! Why on earth would Judy Blume do this?!?! I never would have expected a children’s book to do that...at least without warning! Disgraceful. I guess I will now have to read the reviews of every book we listen to.
