Invaluable principles - eager to apply and share
From my own observations, and a lifetime of business experience I know the principles abd ideas Mike proposes/ explain are very realistic. Although I wished I’d applied them decades ago, I also appreciate the principle of: Better late than never.
I’ve already discussed some of Mike’s suggestions with an accounting/ bookkeeping client, who was were receptive.
Yes, Mike, I will work towards eliminating entrepreneurial poverty, my own, and one client at a time.

An entertaining and actionable read
Where does Surge rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Mike Michalowicz is one of the most entertaining authors to read his book. His passion and personality really come through. There is so much extra content and stories that I always listen to his books first, then I get the book to highlight, put in notes and actions I will take.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Surge?
The visions of surfing. Too often I view the idea of business as paddling harder instead of finding where business is going and join int.
What does Mike Michalowicz bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Mike's passion and humor really come through.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I listen at 1.5x so I was able to get it done in one glorious day

Want to go farther, have more fun creating a business that can become a phenomenon? Surge is the ticket!
In the last 2 years I've listened to over one thousand hours of business and personal development audio books. In my opinion Mike's content and delivery is at the top of my list. I learned of Mike Michalowicz last year when I watched a TedTalk and watched a creativelive class he taught. What's great about Mike? Mike's style is engaging, down to earth and his self deprecating humor makes him approachable... And last but not least, his content is fresh and packed with his own real world experience. I've listened to and read a couple of Mike's other books, and I can say without reservation that Mike lives what he teaches. Just email him. When I reached out to him, I got a personal reply from him within 20mins. (What other in-demand author does that?!!) Mike is on his surge and teaches you to spot, and ride and master yours.

Book is good. Did not go deep enough for me. Am going to re-read for key points because Urdu time through did not have any huge moments of "wow that's huge". Loved Mikes Pumpkin Plan book - one of best books have ever read.

Angry at the amount of fluff
Im pissed I wasted an hour trying to find the meat. There is none. This is impossible to listen to because 1% or less of authors words provide useful, tactical insight into the advertised subject. Its 99% hot air and useless metaphors.

Interesting but not like other Mike's books
Mike Michalowicz (yes I know how to spell it) writes master pieces. This one was just good. I expected to find it more actionable but it was a little wishy-washy and not focused. Way too many surfing references that I surely didn't relate to nor understood.

My least favorite Mike M book. Still good though
I am a huge fan of Mike M and own all of his books. Most of them are “life changing” (the Pumpkin Plan is the best) and others are “great”. Surge however is just “good”. First off, the audio quality sounds like he recorded it in a bedroom closet. It’s not the worst thing ever but made it difficult for me to listen and it distracted from the content. The overall idea behind the Surge is spot on and great food for thought. I found the main examples he used (Ugg Boots) hard to relate to. This is probably due to personal bias and it does demonstrate a company that made bank but has since seemed to lose its momentum. I just feel it would have been more beneficial to use a variety of examples to demonstrate his point. I have a list of other criticisms about this book but essentially, if you’ve never bought a Mike M book, don’t buy this one first. You’re going to get more value out of his others. If you own his other books, you’ll probably enjoy this one.
Mike is a great narrator too. Fun to listen to and he has a great cadence to keep me engaged (but he needs to get back into a better recording studio).
