Story
Annabel was about to take the veil to become a nun, when her mother suddenly arrived at the abbey to take her home...so that she can marry the Scottish laird who is betrothed to her runaway sister! She knows nothing about being a wife, nothing about how to run a household, and definitely nothing about the marriage bed. From the moment Ross MacKay sets eyes on Annabel, he is taken with his shy, sweet bride...and the fact that she's blessed with lush curves only makes him utter his own prayers of thanks. But when an enemy endangers her life, he'll move the Highlands themselves to save her.

Publisher's Summary
In New York Times best-selling author Lynsay Sands' captivating romance, a lass targeted by an unknown foe is saved - and seduced - by a bold Highlander
Edith Drummond owes her life to Niels Buchanan and his brothers. Waking after an illness to a castle overrun by rugged Highlanders is disconcerting, but so is learning that she's slowly being poisoned. Niels insists on staying by her side, and Edith soon discovers that even more dangerous is her wild attraction to the fierce warrior.
Niels has never met a more courageous - or enticing - woman than Lady Edith. The idea of such a bonny lass being forced to enter a nunnery is more than any red-blooded Scotsman could bear. He'll gladly marry her himself. But while sweeping her off her feet is easy, it'll take all his skill to defeat her family's relentless enemies and convince her to surrender to his sweet embrace....

Loved it!
I loved it! Always wanting to know what is going to happen next! The characters are thought out and so much fun to get to know and you'll be dying to know what's going to happen and who is going to be there because the plot is amazing. No spoilers but watching both the love story and the plot unfold together is great. Highly recommended!

Average story...
While I usually love a Lynsay Sands Highlands story, this one just didn’t connect with me. I felt like the story dragged on and on. I couldn’t really get a feel for the personalities of the main characters. Usually Ms. Sands imparts some warmth and emotion into her characters, but this book felt rather lifeless and stale. The narration was good though!

Good!
I want to start off by saying I’m a huge Lynsay Sands fan. I love her Highlander books in general but this wasn’t my favorite one.
The main characters are fine. I didn’t fall in love with either of them but they didn’t annoy me either. I really enjoy the play between the brothers though, especially with Rory. He’s an interesting character!
The mystery was good and I didn’t catch on until the end which kept me listening. However, there is some serious victim shaming that upset me and may upset other readers too. This disappointed me greatly.
I adored the narrator and hope to hear more from him!! His voice is like silk and his Scottish accent is great! He didn’t overdo it. Perfect!
All in all it was an enjoyable listen. Just not my favorite.
