Publisher's Summary

Adventure. It's what my boring life is missing, so when I fall through a portal into another world, I'm excited. Here, I'm important. Here, I'm special.

I find out just how special when I meet Death. He's been exiled to the mortal realm to work through his flaws, and he's just as spoiled and awful as you'd think. Rhagos, the Shadow Lord, is arrogant and rude and controlling and demands to get his way. He's selfish. He's impossible.

He's also utterly gorgeous. Magnetic. Lonely. And strangely protective of me.

Thanks to a magic bond, I now serve him as his anchor to the mortal realm. It means that I'm his conscience, his guide...and the target for any assassin or glory-seeker. After a few days of this, I'd rather go home than continue on this adventure.

As the world falls down around us and we're hunted simply for existing, I find myself wondering what it'd be like to serve the lonely god of death...in all ways. To kiss him. To touch him. To bed him.

Except...I'm supposed to be finding a way home, not trying to kiss Rhagos. No matter how tempting he is. No matter how much he stares at my lips. No matter how much I want it.

Contains mature themes.

I'm so happy

I love this book what makes that significant to me is that I loved and adored the first book I felt like it was amazing and that she didn't really need any more so when this sequel came out I was ecstatic and excited but I was very nervous I didn't want it to fall into a formula and I didn't want it to be boring compared to the first book was like how do you get us to follow along and learn with the character when we know so many ins and outs and I can genuinely say this book does not disappoint gods and aspects is awesome if you liked down to a battle God you'll love this as well I would highly recommend it and this book will work as a standalone on its own explain without being redundant or boring. I would highly recommend this.

Excellent Can’t Wait for the next book! 💕💕💕

Didn't think it possible but just as good or better than Book 1, Narrator, Jullian Macie is excellent, she’s one of my favorite narrators (shes the narrator for Anna Carven in Dark Planet Warriors series) Absolutely love Ruby Dixon, her Fireblood Dragon Romance Series is one of my favourites that I’ve listened to many times over & now another set to add to my most favourites. It’s amazing how she can build such fantastic and diverse worlds in all of her different series. Keep up the great work Ruby, xoxo 😘

Second adventure is even better than the first!

Basically Kylo Ren is the lonely god of death. He realizes that he could have a lovely anchor to spend eternity with just like the god of war now does. He bargains to get another chance at the ascendence but things don’t go quite the way he expected - he falls in love while doing nothing but deceive the object of his affections. And breaking all kinds of rules along the way. I actually wanted to reread the first 8 hours after we find out “which” Death Kylo is. There is an epic adventure with lots of misdirection and flirting and misunderstandings and new things learned etc. I loved this book more than #1 because it was heads and tales more romantic (there’s great sex and smut but I felt way more emotion from Kylo than from Aaron). Ruby did a great job showing his feelings in small ways throughout this epic tale! Best of all... Kylo finally gets what he deserves.. HIS HEA!!!!

Look past the cover, it’s an amazing story!

Just like Bound to the Battle God, this has everything-well developed characters, a thought out story (not super predictable like you’d expect), nothing is rushed yet I didn’t get bored at any point. I truly love this storyline and can’t wait for the next book.

couldn't get behind the MC

I really need hated the MC. The story was good but man did I dislike the girl. Too dumb to live. Just ...god was she a let down. I thought she would be like a cool gamer chick ready to be chosen one but she turn out to be human.

Dixon at her best

First, ignore the cover. I promise you the story is worth it. Dixon has a thing for these covers, and honestly, I blew her work off because of them for so long. Now, I've binged all her work and this series is the best of her work. I expected to have a similar adventure story as in book 1 - going out and killing the other aspects, waging war, etc... But nope. Dixon is pretty creative, and we have a completely different story here. In some ways, it was a lot tamer - less battle, etc... but I think the connection between Rhagos and Max was so well done. They are different people and therefore their adventure would reflect that. I loved Rhagos - maybe a smidge more than Aron. Regardless, this was a 5 star book and I cannot wait for the next one.

WOW! Even better than the first book!

I LOVE Ruby Dixon. If you like paranormal romance, she is like fresh air in a repetitive genre. Her main character is always relatable and funny. This series is kind of like Kristen Ashley's Rising series with hotter sex. Sworn to the Shadow God provides more of world-building than Book 1 that is woven into the romance. The male lead is a different aspect, and the story takes place is new cities within Eos. The female lead is a virgin (ugh), but not in an annoying way at all. The book is definitely worth a credit.

Good follow up book

Overall I really liked this story. Max drove me crazy, but that had a lot to do with the character having a lot of TSTL moments and the narrator choosing a whiny nasally voice for her. Ruby Dixon is a very talented author and even when I’m not 100% on board with a character I still enjoy the overall story. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
