What the critics say

"With razor-sharp insight into the lives of her characters, Kia Abdullah gives [listeners] much more than a courtroom thriller. A timely reminder that the tentacles of scandal are long - and they touch everyone." (Christina Dalcher, Sunday Times best-selling author of VOX)

"Taut, gritty and compelling. This book deserves to be huge." (Louise Jensen, million-copy best-selling author of The Sister)

"Intense, shocking and so real you can literally feel its heartbeat...." (Lisa Hall, author of Between You and Me and The Party)

Amazing story about race, exploitation, family

This book is many things, a commentary on race relations in contemporary UK, family ties and loyalty and the exploitation of a vulnerable young girl. This makes it sound dull and depressing, it is neither, it is a fast paced police procedural combined with a legal thriller by a very talented new writer. her insights on being Muslim in contemporary UK are valuable and the various twists, including the shattering one at the end make for a suspenseful, gripping ride.I bought this audiobook on impulse and listened to it almost non stop untill the end. One of the best books I've experienced in a long time. I'm watching out for the author's next book.
