Publisher's Summary

I'm one of four Willow daughters. He's the first-born son of the Scafoni family. And we have history.

For generations, the Scafoni family have demanded a sacrifice of us. A virgin daughter to atone for sins so old that we don't even remember what they are anymore.

But when you have as much money as they do, you don't play by the rules. You make them.

And Sebastian Scafoni makes all the rules.

The moment I saw him, I knew he would choose me. Even though the mark on my sheath declared me unclean. Even though my beautiful sisters stood beside me, offered to him, he still chose me.

He made me his. And then he set out to break me.

A Dark story

Mostly brutal with some tender moments
But I did not like the male narrator he sounds like he has a plugged nose which threw me off
Still a good story and will buy the next in series
These families are seriously mental but interesting

What a thriller!

The Scafoni and Willow families have been tied together for centuries by a cursed and brutal tradition. This generation Helena has been chosen to be the sacrifice. This begins 3 years of sexual slavery and brutality by the 3 Scafoni brothers. The most brutal though is Sebastian's stepmother. Soon Helena finds herself falling in love with Sebastian. But can she trust any of the Scafoni family members especially Sebastian. If so, will he be able to save her?

The narrators did an excellent job of taking the listener into this very dark world.

I voluntarily received this Audible book in exchange for an honest review. I really liked this book. It is full of mystery, hidden truths, sinister people, twists and turns, erotic sexual scenes, superstitions, angst, who can be trusted issues, and love. It does contain a cliffhanger but the second book is there to be listened to/read. I will be listening to it right away. If you like dark erotic romance books this is one for you.

Addictive Dark Romance

Overall 4 stars
Performance 4.5 stars
Story 3.5 stars

I don't read much dark romance, but I've made an exception a few times for Natasha Knight and I have never regretted it. Her books and characters push me out of my comfort zone and are so addictive! Once I started this one, I didn't want to stop and it remained in my thoughts until I could get back to it. The premise is so intriguing and I couldn't wait to find out more about the history between the Scafoni and Willow families. I will admit that not everything made the most sense, but the pacing was good and I felt engaged and invested the entire time. Make no mistake though, this book is not for the faint of heart. There are some very difficult chapters with questionable consent and possible triggers for listeners/readers. The Stockholm Syndrome was also strong and I'm not entirely sure how much I consider this a romance. There's a scene towards the end that had me cringing due to its brutality and how much the anti-hero, Sebastian, derived sexual gratification from the entire exchange. Listeners/readers should also note that this is book 1 of the duet, so brace yourself for the cliffhanger because it's a doozy!

Michael Pauley and MacKenzie Cartwright did a fantastic job bringing Sebastian and Helena to life. Pauley's performance was especially riveting and I am always impressed by his ability to embody these morally ambiguous heroes. I think my only issue with his performance is that it seemed muffled/not as clear as MacKenzie Cartwright's. Overall a great listen and I can't wait to start book 2!

Willow They or Won't They

I enjoyed the pacing of the story. This was a very quick listen for me because I needed to know where the story was going. The story opens on a dark note and just continues from there. It's told from duel POVs: Helena Willow the feisty iron willed young woman. She is chosen as the Willow Girl by the eldest son in the Scafoni family; Sebastian. He supplies the other POV. He is a tatted mafioso bound by rules and tradition. I had a bit of an issue fully understanding the reason for the reaping or this would be a 5 start listen for me.

The narrators are wonderful and easy to listen to.

This is definitely a dark/taboo read. There are themes of kidnapping, sadism, dubious consent and abuse. If you are sensitive to these elements this would not be the book for you. It does not shy away from the brutality.

The book does end with a cliffhanger. So for closure you will need to read book two in the duet.

I would recommend this for fans of The Indebted series by Willow Winters and Acquisition Series by Celia Aaron.

TAKEN 😣😤

WARNING! 😣 this book isn't for the faint of heart people. This book has verbal, and physical abuse in it so if these are triggers for you than I would think twice about this one. This first book is very very dark.

Cliff Hanger but so worth it!!

I’ll start by saying this has good narration, you cannot go wrong with Michael Pauley!! Sebastian and Helena are brought together by a centuries old “deal” between families. It is an intense, dark romance that has several twist and turns. It is classic Natasha, she keeps you wanting more. Several questions remain unanswered so it does not have a sweet ending wrapped up in a pretty little bow, but it leaves you ready to dive into book 2!!! Angsty yet erotic, brutality yet caring. This is an amazing dark and twisted story that will literally leave you wanting more...
This book has a cliffhanger but I’m excited to listen to book 2.
The narration was amazing! I recommend this book if you’re okay with a angsty cliffhanger!

Scafoni Family VS Willow Daughters

Taken (Dark Legacy Duet #1) by Natasha Knight is a very dark erotic romance with triggers. The Scafoni & Willow family
have history together, being tied together for centuries by a curse & a brutal tradition. A intensely, dark, mysterious & absolutely captivating listen. Oodles of details explaining certain events, however the further I delve into this duet the more questions I have. A game of cat and mouse being played by these characters. Characters are compelling as well as have complex personalities. This author intertwined a tale that includes a family curse, betrayal, criminal aspect, enemies to lovers trope, morbidly twisted, & sensuality. I'm so ready to dig into book two as this ends in a cliffhanger.

Narators Michael Paulie and Mackenzie Cartwright are new to me as I haven't listened to anything they narrated before. I revel in the naration. These two together brought the narrative & characters into existence.

Oh So Good!!!

I loved this dark book!! Sebastian is easy to fall for. Heck I just listened to it and I am falling for him. Helena was the chosen one. Though her sisters are pure and she is not. I love her tenacity although she is in a bad place. She is a fighter.

Michael Pauley and MacKenzie Cartwright did a great job with narration!

I cannot wait to start listening to Torn!!

I wanted to hate it

🎧Audiobook Obsession🎧

But I couldn't. One minute I'm hating everyone in this book, Even Helena for trying to believe in Sebastian. The next I'm rooting for them and thinking up ways to do off with Lucinda. The Willow Girls have suffered for generations and I honestly hate the Willow family more than the Scafoni family for accepting payment while your own child is put through hell. I love a good anti-hero and Sebastian is the best at it. If you are not into dark twisted romance then leave this alone, not for the faint of heart. However if you like viscerally dark and sadistic it's worth a credit. Looking forward to book 2. Michael Pauley and Mackenzie Cartwright narration was riveting as I navigate through this brilliantly written story.

TAKEN

What a start to this dark romance. I really can't say much without giving away the story. This story drew me in from the very first page and kept me up because I couldn't put the book down. The only negative for me is, it is a cliffhanger.
