À propos de cet audio

Let's face it: We all know people who are irrational. No matter how hard you try to reason with them, it never works. So what's the solution? How do you talk to someone who's out of control? What can you do with a boss who bullies, a spouse who yells, or a friend who frequently bursts into tears?

In his book Just Listen, Mark Goulston shared his best-selling formula for getting through to the resistant people in your life. Now, in his breakthrough new book Talking to Crazy, he brings his communication magic to the most difficult group of all - the downright irrational. As a psychiatrist, Goulston has seen his share of crazy, and he knows from experience that you can't simply argue it away. The key to handling irrational people is to learn to lean in to the crazy - to empathize with it. That radically changes the dynamic and transforms you from a threat into an ally.

Talking to Crazy explains this counterintuitive Sanity Cycle and reveals:

  • Why people act the way they do
  • How instinctive responses can exacerbate the situation and what to do instead
  • When to confront a problem and when to walk away
  • How to use a range of proven techniques including Time Travel, the Fish-bowl, and the Belly Roll
  • And much more

You can't reason with unreasonable people - but you can reach them. This powerful and practical book shows you how.

Ce que les critiques en disent

"A persuasive performance by L. J. Ganser illuminates both the droll and the danger of dealing with 'crazy' people.... The resonance of Ganser's voice is engaging, and his portrayals of the numerous personalities discussed are the highlight of his performance." ( AudioFile)

Un problème est survenu. Veuillez réessayer dans quelques minutes.

The book doesn't just deal with the crazy of the other person it also deals with crazy within and words and actions that may be adding to the crazy of the other person.

Good book full of immediate actionable items

very helpful book!

I couldn't set it down ... from beginning to end 👍
great examples.

REQUIRED READING .. or listen !

Un problème est survenu. Veuillez réessayer dans quelques minutes.

My wife has bipolar and possibly borderline personality disorder. We have 4 kids and a relatively good relationship without medication when I remember to use the methods in this book. There are lots of books on psychology and theory, but if you want to cut the crop and get results right away, this is the right book.

Not just another cliche, useful and applicable

Un problème est survenu. Veuillez réessayer dans quelques minutes.

Filled with examples and scenarios, this book provides some tactics how to approach and eventually solve a problem with difficult ones around us.

Very practical

Un problème est survenu. Veuillez réessayer dans quelques minutes.

There were some general knowledge about thinking from the perspective of the other person and some action steps to take with an irrational person.

The only complaint I have is that it isn't what I expected to read. I enjoyed the stories and the practicalness to the approach but I would not read it again until I feel like I am encountering with a legitimately irrational/crazy person on the day-to-day.

I'm not sure if I would recommend if you're reading this book for the fun of it.

It was good but not my favourite self-help book

Un problème est survenu. Veuillez réessayer dans quelques minutes.

Some good strategies and approaches on how to deal with difficult people.
I will definitely be listening to it again.

Insightful
