Publisher's Summary

Tell her all your secrets, and she’ll tell you all her lies....

Everything in Lorna’s life runs like clockwork, from her six a.m. run to the strict 60 minute counselling sessions she gives. It’s the only way she can deal with the terrible secret she carries.

When a new client arrives for his first appointment, Lorna feels her perfect life unravel in a matter of seconds. It’s Andrew, the man she’s spent the last year desperately trying to forget. It seems he can’t forget her either....

Against her better judgment, she anonymously contacts him on a dating site. Messaging him could mean the end of her marriage and her career, but she needs to know if his motives are genuine.

When Andrew is found dead in his home, grief quickly turns to fear when messages from him continue to arrive on Lorna’s phone. Somebody knows her secret and wants to use it to destroy everything she has.

Will she risk her family and her sanity to keep her secret? Will she risk her life?

If you love twisty psychological thrillers that get under your skin, like The Girl on the Train, I Let You Go, or anything by Louise Jensen, you’ll be utterly blown away by the jaw-dropping lies in Tell Me A Secret.

Annoying start

This book was odd. The main character made really strange decisions considering her profession. I think it actually would have worked better if she was an accountant or a lawyer or something. The entire first 2/3 of the book was spent being annoyed at her. It really seemed like some dumb romance story where the woman just makes stupid decisions based on what the man wants.

The LAST 1/3 of the book contained the twists. And they were pretty good twists, at least one of which I didn’t anticipate. They were dramatic, but not really believable. But did it make up for the annoyance of the first 2/3 of the book? I dunno. I don’t hate it enough that I want my money back, but my main feeling is still annoyance.

Just ok

The ending is a good twist but I really didn’t like the main character, which ruined the story for me. She inspired no sympathy and so I didn’t really care that things got difficult for her. Great narration though.

Meh

Good narration but the story was so drawn out and just an inner monologue that takes FOREVER for anything to happen. Save yourself the time and skip to the last two chapters if you want anything entertaining.

Tiresome

I gave up less than halfway through. Maybe is the audio format but was a slow, plodding story.

dont bother

slow moving...this was a disappointment especially when the reviews made it sound so great. it was not gripping, and I dreaded having to listen to it because I knew each chapter would be a letdown.

Couldn't finish and left it too late to return

I must have purchased this one on a BOGO, would have given it 0 stars but that would look like I just didn't care. I couldn't make it far enough into the narrative to find out who 'him' was so this review concerns the first ~40 minutes (during a dog walk). The story seems like it might have been written by a teenager who interviewed a therapist for a school project to find out what a therapist might do. The therapist (PhD!?) Lorna could not be less self-aware, self-sufficient or insightful. The endless unnecessary exposition included obvious adolescent attempts to shock. The story is narrated in the first person in a sort of naive 20-something voice, so the story comes across as though told by someone without adult depth. Lorna (surely someone in her 40s?) describes her childhood family as so dysfunctional as to be almost laughable and her adult situation to be so tangled up in her apparent inability to make rational decisions that I found the story unlistenable. I think there has to be real listener trust and engagement for a first-person narrative to succeed in an Audible book. Is Lorna supposed to be on the autism scale? How could she obtain a professional degree and license?

Great read!

I got a bit bored as the end was nearing and then some great twists made listening so worth it 😊

Repetitive unappealing

As others have said you can skip to the last few chapters, I used it to aid with sleep. The characters are not developed, the story is not engaging on a fantasy or real life level .
Amazing it was published

Um, Who Wrote the Rave Reviews and Why?

The only saving grace of this novel was in its performance. The main character is annoying, the ending comes out of left field in a way that seems more ridiculous than surprising and all the lead women in the novel come off as crazy, damaged and needy. Ugh, not my type of female lead.

Thos was a weird one...

Not sure what I was expecting, but this wasn't it.
I'm not sorry I listened to it, but as a fan of psychological thrillers, I'm not sure I can recommend it either. I feel like any true review would be a spoiler so I will leave it at this

Wow! And to think I almost returned this one!

It was slow at the start but a terrific read ... so many messages about how guilt & betrayal can destroy you ... then the end ... OMG. Never saw that coming!

Too long and repetitive

The constant overwrought dialogue to get to the point could have been a lot shorter. I also thought it was a bit hard to follow in parts. The ending was the best part of the whole book. Not worth all that whining from the main character though.

Boring and repetitive until the last chapters

Good story. Great narration. But the first 3/4 were very long and just a typical story of a married woman having an affair. I fast fwd a lot of it without missing a thing. But the last 1/4 was really good. I only figured some of it out earlier like others had reviewed so that helped to make it more interesting at the end.

So slow

I can’t even get through this book. It’s so slow and isn’t holding my interest. It gets great reviews, but I’m just not able to hang in there.

Confusing

This book was very confusing at times and boring at other times. I finished it but, I’m so glad it’s over!
