I knocked up my best friend's sister. Let's start with how she decided to inform me and Pacey the news...together. Imagine that nightmare. I was going into what I thought was a hockey marketing meeting, and then bam! I'm going to be a dad and my best friend/teammate is attempting to imprint my face with his fist. Threats were tossed around, friendships were revoked, and then I was marched up to her apartment, suitcases in hand, and forced to live with her so I could take care of her every need. Now I'm finding it harder and harder not to fall for my best friend's little sister.

Breaking news: The bad boy of baseball, Maddox Paige, is totally and utterly whipped. Okay, that might not be the headline in the newspaper this morning, but it's the reality of my current situation. It all started a month ago when I received a call from my best friend, Kinsley. She’d gotten a new job in Chicago and needed a place to stay. I've known the girl since I was five, so I figured there wouldn't be any harm in having her stay at my place for a while. Ha! Total disaster.

One of my Favorite Books this year!
This book was beautifully written. I was enthralled from the start and never expecting to be a blubbering idiot by the end. I don't like to give spoilers with my reviews so all I need to say is that I don't highly recommend a book often.....until now!!

Not my kind of book. I did not enjoy it.
Grief, anger, suffering, pain, and being a b**ch to almost everyone.
Jane Litte recommended this on a Podcast. I expect her recommendations to be good for romance lovers, although sometimes I disagree with her. But this was unexpected because there was no “feel good.” Sorry Jane. I call it tragedy women’s fiction with a smithering of romance. But the romance was not good enough to offset the pain, depression, anger, frustration, and dislikeablilty. Kacey is extremely angry and a b**ch throughout the book. She was mean to people who were kind and good to her. Her reason was to protect herself from grief and anger from a car accident which killed people she loved. At 75% my thoughts were “I’m tired of her attitude and issues and pain.” I lost compassion and empathy for her. At this time Trent said to Kacey something about here’s to the next 80 years together. When I heard that I thought “I don’t know why he loves her.”
I cared for Trent. And I hurt for him. He brought tears of sadness to me. I also had tears about something a father did at the end.
I don’t want to read sad books. I would not have bought this had I known what it was about. I want to be entertained and I want to feel good. This was neither.
There are a few sex scenes but they are done with no details and sort of mentioned after the fact. With a couple of them I thought “Oh did they have sex? I must have missed it.” The level of sex is probably ok for young adult readers.
The narrator Elizabeth Louise was good.
Genre: tragedy women’s fiction, new adult

Awful to eh...
Any additional comments?
This book went from a painful listening experience to a decent ending. I feel like the author spent more time describing sex than she did on character development. It was all cliche and a little too 50 Shades for my taste.

NEW FAVORITE !!!!
Wow! I was sucked in immediately!
The book is filled with endless twist and turns, and so many different things happen. Yet they all tie into the story line perfectly. I remember looking at the time left on the book a few different times and thought, "Wow....what else could possiably happen ? Or. What could Tucker possiably do to fill the the next 3/4s of this book with?"
It never got boring, it was none stop ride!
The whole thing was great! I also, often thought how very real these events and characters were.
And the narrator really was the whip cream and cherry on top of it all! She didn't seem like she was trying to hard. She was consistent with the different voices. And she had the appropriate emotions and tones.
I don't easily give out five stars.....but this was worth every single one!

Damaged Girl Makes New Start
Kacey suffered a devastating loss when her family perished in a car accident. One bad choice after another leads her to pick up with little sister in tow to move to Florida for a fresh start. Struggling to make ends meet, she takes a risky job to pay the rent and keep her bright sister on track to attend an ivy league college.
An attractive stranger seems drawn to rescuing her from all sorts of mini catastrophes and thus begins the mystery.
The narrator is strong and the book is an entertaining read, but not great.

This amazing story took my breath away
Any additional comments?
K. A. Tucker managed to grab me and hold my undivided attention till the end in this very emotional book. The plot is awesome. It’s edgy, its dark. It contains lots of great elements that pull the reader into the story. Though not everything is given to the reader at once, it simply leaves a trail of delicious bread crumbs for the reader to follow. With every piece, the story evolves, becoming much more potent at the end. I want to say more but… The love in this story has got to be the most wonderful and painful love ever. So many mistakes. So little time to fix them all. The past holding them back. The whole dynamic of their relationship and the love it brings to them is strong. I felt so taken back by the amount of trials that they went through. And for the guy to do so much for forgiveness and a second chance, its lovely.... I knew half way through that there is more than what I’m seeing. And when I got to the tidbit at the end…O.M.G. I love it. I love how well the author kept the reader entertained, that the reader could not see what what was coming next and yet it changes many things. But there is one thing that it can’t change…love..... I adored this book! It’s riveting and exciting that I still can’t get it out of my head. An edgy portrait of two people looking for forgiveness, the story can capture any reader. The struggle for a normal life, the pain of what they live through, Ten Ting Breaths is a successful start to the series. A stark and powerful drama, Ten Ting Breaths is stunning. *Elizabeth Louise done an awesome job with narration, just made this story the perfect package. :)

Caught my heart
Wow, this one really pulled at my heart. It was one of those that pulled me in from the beginning and lasted until the very last! It's a very emotional story, not much sexual content, but it's one that's so interesting it doesn't matter. So you know I'm going to tell you it's worth the credit!

An Average Smut Book... Nothing New
I bought Ten Tiny Breaths because I was compelled with the story and because it had such great reviews. I was so totally disappointed.
It all starts okay. A horrible accident which kills Kacey's whole family except for she and her younger sister spawns the first foster father who immediate tries to take advantage of Kacey's only living relative. Kacey packs up and moves her sister to Miami to start fresh- to forget, and to forge a life for them.
While they are there they meet a nice neighbour who happens to be a stripper. Kacey takes a job at the strip bar which has a pretty 'good guy' owner. Kacey's little sister babysits for the stripper- and all seems well. Until of course, they start getting involved in tumultuous relationships and people who live a much more wild lifestyle than Kacey is used to. And of course, she meets a guy that she really wants to open up to- but just can't after all that's happened.
The story is cliche, the characters are predictable, and it's hard to listen to without falling asleep or getting bored. Too much sex and detail made me feel like I was reading another '50 Shades.' And I don't think that honouring women who have made very poor choices in life makes for a good story line.
I know this review won't be popular, but I just didn't like Ten Tiny Breaths. I think it's an over-hyped smut book and I didn't enjoy it at all.
2 stars- the narrator is good.

Emotional and Enjoyable Journey
I really enjoyed Ten Tiny Breaths. I thought Kacey, the main character was interesting; the reader can see so much about her the entire time that she doesn't see in herself until the end. She is unreasonable, moody, angry, desperate, and extremely stubborn. I found myself annoyed with her because she refused to cope with her trauma in a healthy way. But that's the entire point of the book. Her road to healing is actually quite nice. Long, but comforting and refreshing.
Enter Trent. Gorgeous, motorcycle riding neighbor living in Apartment 1D. You seemed too good to be true. You save women from snakes in their showers, take a girl to see alligators in the Everglades on a first date, and hang out at strip clubs to watch the bartender (AKA a fully clothed Kacey) rather than the strippers. You MUST have some deep dark secret.
And then, the OH MY GOSH I CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT I JUST HEARD reveal happened.
Seriously though. I was NOT expecting what happened. At all. In any universe. It almost made me bump my rating up to 5 stars. Because that was a brilliant plot twist. That alone should make you want to read this book. Because I was shocked. And I immediately thought "K.A. Tucker FTW". Seriously.
I loved the cast of supporting characters. Storm, the adorable next-door neighbor who practically takes Kacey and her little sister Livie in was such a nice addition to this tale of misery. Storm and her 5 year old daughter Mia are as good of friends as they can be to Kacey, and I loved them for it. Livie helps keep Kacey together as best she can, and is a perfect angel in all circumstances. She is sweet, helpful, and cares deeply about Kacey.
There is some sex in this book, but it's not very graphic. It's fairly mild compared to an adult romance novel, but it's still there. Some heavy language at parts, and adult situations.

INCREDIBLE! ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!
I had this book in my wish list for the longest time. I just kept thinking it was way too deep for me from what I read in others reviews. Maybe even a little too sappy. I didn't want to read something that would just depress me and this seemed to be way too depressing. I was totally wrong, granted it has many sad and very deep parts to it, but the author found the perfect mix of laughter and tears. This was an incredible story I am so glad I finally listened. More than worth the credit!
