Story
The citizens of Azurvale are starting to feel the pressure. War with the Empire to the south is imminent, and there's talk of the city's adventurers being drafted into the campaign. Though this conflict seems inevitable and promises to be horrific, the common folk can do little but act like there's nothing wrong. Rather than lose sleep over something so wildly out of their control, they instead worry about tiny, personal, inconsequential issues. However, the people of Azurvale have yet to find out that their capital is already under threat.

Experience an Isekai culture clash as a laid-back Australian finds himself in a very serious world. See him gain suspiciously evil powers through a unique progression system combining cultivation and traditional LitRPG elements. Enjoy a weak-to-strong story with a main character who earns his power without overshadowing everyone around him, with plenty of loot, adventurers, gods and magic. Rich characters and world-building offer humor, political intrigue, and slice-of-life elements alongside lots of monster fighting and adventure.

Publisher's Summary
The war is in full swing. Following the unprecedented outcome of the siege at Fort Yimin, both the Republic and the Empire are forced to drastically reevaluate their plans for the conflict. With matters on the western front more or less settled for the moment, the warring nations turn their attention toward the eastern theatre. Winter looms on the horizon, threatening to deadlock the region and put a temporary halt to hostilities. With both sides planning to deploy bold and unconventional strategies on top of committing vast resources, it’s anyone’s guess which of them will come out on top.
Indeed, neither government is shying away from resorting to underhanded, questionable, or downright amoral means. The Gilded Hand has been stepping up their efforts to further Spymaster Edward Allen’s schemes. The Empire’s intelligence agency is also looking to field its most powerful enforcers in the coming battles. The Republic’s Foreign Intelligence Bureau is having a hard time keeping up, but they are not without their own dirty tricks. Rumors within the royal palace of the Horkensaft Kingdom to the east suggest that the dwarves and gnomes are on the verge of aiding the elven nation. Something that wouldn’t have been made possible without the Republic’s deep coffers, and the less-than-reputable individuals that fill them.
Boxxy T. Morningwood isn’t one of those shady contributors. If anything, it’s been steadily draining the government’s resources as it forces them to pay exorbitant fees to resolve issues that the monster itself creates. A trend it plans to keep following for as long as it can lie, cheat, and murder its way through life.
Which, barring something ridiculous like divine intervention, is poised to be a very long time indeed.
Content warning: Profanity, gore, violence, explicit adult content.

slow start but great
The start is a bit weak since the book follows Kira more then boxy. But after a bit the story picks up to end on a high note. Great characters and the interactions are well done. The world is starting to feel very fleshed out as we learn more about divine realms and the politics. The war setting is less interesting then party adventuring but still enjoyable. Tho I hope the whole series doesn't turn into a war series like the 10 realms or many other fantasies.

80% Felt like pointless rushed fluff.
ELLC series is one of my favorite series. Each book is either 5 stars or real close to it. This one on the other hand felt like it was just sort of just thrown together to meet a deadline. I enjoyed the last few chapters, but up to that point, the book was very pointless, uneventful and just didn't follow the style from the previous books. Go in with low expectations and you won't be disappointed. Also, for all the fluff there was in this book, the author could have written the equivalent of 5 minutes to give the book an actual end. I'm ok with open ended ends, but this wasn't even that. I'll still buy the next audiobook, since I love the series and am willing to give it a shot, but I do hope it feels more polished than this.

I applaud the narrators of Soundbooth Theatre. Jeff Hays preformed spectacular as always, and Annie Ellicott nailed her characters perfectly. The new addition of Justin Thomas James was a surprise, but he didn’t let us down, bringing his character to life better than I could have imagined. Our brilliant author, Neven Iliev did not disappoint. Boxy continues be the awesome manipulative murderer we know and love, so give it a listen.

If you read the first 4 Books or Audiobooks you know what to expect and yes this one is at least as good as the first four. The Story moves along in a nice pace and the Voice Cast is, once again, perfect. If you liked the the first Books you will love this one as well.

Partial comeback from book 4
This book is a decent rebound from the fourth book.
The narration seemed to actually get a bit worse for some reason. The male voices were all pretty similar, while not being a normal voice. They were all gruff like the spy master of previous books.
The story itself was better than book four, but not as good as the first three. There's more of the pointless conflict around sexuality that the fourth book had, but much less of it. It doesn't fit the story at all and completely ruins the flow. It seems clear that it was thrown in either as poorly made propaganda to support the author's political/world views, or as pathetic pandering to sell books. Any author who can make a violent, abusive sexual relationship between a hermaphrodite fiend and masochistic succubus seem normal could do a much better job with something as simple as a lesbian relationship.
The overall comedy is still lacking compared to the first three books. In return there's a little more plot, but not much. A lot of time is wasted trying to build up the story, but never delivering too much. Pointless interactions that merely fill time, never adding any entertainment or developing the characters. Meanwhile Boxxy's new (potential) allies and the Goddess Teresa herself get far less time than they should.
