Publisher's Summary

The 3-Day Effect is a look at the science behind why being in the wild for a minimum of three days can make us happier, healthier and more creative. Whether it’s rafting down Utah’s Green River, backpacking in Colorado wilderness or strolling through Rock Creek Park in Washington, D.C., scientists are finding that immersions in nature can reduce anxiety, enhance creativity and boost overall well-being.

Join science journalist Florence Williams in an immersive audio exploration of the mind and outdoors in six chapters following former Iraqi war veterans, sex trafficking survivors, and even a bookish nature hater journeying to the wild. Meet the innovative field researchers working to strengthen the science for a nature cure through real-time physiological, psychological and cognitive measures over three days outside.

When you add The 3-Day Effect to your library you will receive all 6 episodes, each with a runtime of approximately 25 minutes. To hear more great podcasts and short listens, visit Audible.ca/AudioShows.

Interesting topic BUT

Interesting topic but the narrator felt like she was forcing opinions onto the subjects, it certainly did not feel like an unbiased presentation

Great Series!

This is a fantastic series! It is a really balanced view on the healthful benefits of nature. The evidence based research (which appealed to my scientific brain) and personal accounts of experiencing nature first hand, were fascinating! If you needed any more reason on the benefits of nature as a healthcare option (although you really shouldn't), this is the series to listen to. Awesome job Audible! (...and Florence!)

Agree With Concepts

Absolutely great book! Had the fortunate opportunity to listen to this book as I was hiking through the jungles of Asia. I do believe these concepts are true through my personal experience of connecting with nature. However, on the scientific side to eliminate bias it would be great to monitor someone’s brain activity if they were to go to a new city. Measuring those brain activities would provide a platform to compare if nature produces the positive results or if it is being in a new environment. The focus is on nature, but it does require more research on the opposite spectrum to fully provide solid evidence of the 3 day effect.

OK but not enough in depth.

Narrator seemed to pushing to sound really upbeat. Just as I thought we were getting to something the episode would abruptly end. I kept feeling cheated. The good stuff was out of reach.
