NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

A Most Anticipated Book of 2022 by Cosmopolitan, Goodreads, PopSugar, and more!

From the author of the Goodreads Choice Award winner The Spanish Love Deception, the eagerly anticipated follow-up featuring Rosie Graham and Lucas Martín, who are forced to share a New York apartment.

Rosie Graham has a problem. A few, actually. She just quit her well-paid job to focus on her secret career as a romance writer. She hasn’t told her family and now has terrible writer’s block. Then, the ceiling of her New York apartment literally crumbles on her. Luckily she has her best friend Lina’s spare key while she’s out of town. But Rosie doesn’t know that Lina has already lent her apartment to her cousin Lucas, who Rosie has been stalking—for lack of a better word—on Instagram for the last few months. Lucas seems intent on coming to her rescue like a Spanish knight in shining armor. Only this one strolls around the place in a towel, has a distracting grin, and an irresistible accent. Oh, and he cooks.

Lucas offers to let Rosie stay with him, at least until she can find some affordable temporary housing. And then he proposes an outrageous experiment to bring back her literary muse and meet her deadline: He’ll take her on a series of experimental dates meant to jump-start her romantic inspiration. Rosie has nothing to lose. Her silly online crush is totally under control—but Lucas’ time in New York has an expiration date, and six weeks may not be enough, for either her or her deadline.

Slow and cute

Others mention the male narration, and I guess I understand what they mean. However, I did not mind it so much. His voice is pitched low and breathy but thats how the books describes it. The fact that he has a latino accent was interresting to me, I liked it.

Storywise, it was slow and the interactions between the 2 Mcs were absolutely adorable. I'd say the rythm sometimes was slow and there isnt a huge plot twist so it was... easy. So slow, cute and steamy.

Id say the story between the 2 Mcs is worth the listen.

Loved the book…couldn’t stand his voice

I loved the story and the females voice was great but the male voice was awful. If they were going for a sexy, sultry voice they were way off. If the story hadn’t been able to keep me as captivated as it did I would have turned it off. Worth the read because of the story itself.

Review

Thought the story was cute but couldn’t get past the male narration. I liked the woman’s voice more and when she said things that Lucas said I liked that way more and didn’t think it need that male narrator. But cute story

Couldn't Get past the male narrator

The story started off pretty lame, but if it hadn't been for the male narrator, I would have been able to give it more time to draw me in. The narrator was talking in a soft Spanish accent that was soo cheesy. I just couldn't. First book in years I wasn't able to finish.

Cringy male narrator!

i listened to another book by this author...The Spanish Love Deception and liked it so i decided to give this one a try...
Story was not stellar but okay...but the male narrator was really really cringy. Everytime it came to a Lucas chapter i had to speed up thre reading just to get through it. I will watch to not get books with this reader ever again...
