Narration is awful

I introduced Anne of Green Gables to my 8 year old daughter with the wonderful version narrated by Rachel McAdams - wow, she really brought the characters to life, and made Anne and Gilbert sound 'relevant' in their life and story to someone listening in 2019 to a story written 111 years ago. Sadly, this version is terrible. The narration lost all the magic for us, and the intonation really unappealing. The accent used made the characters sound like they were from southern USA, not at all Canadian. The other challenge in this download, while compilation of multiple LM Montgomery books, it does not keep its place and we kept getting sent back to an old part of the story and you'd have to scroll through to find the chapters. Having 'part 1' or 'part 2' that aren't at the end of a book, but part way through is illogical to me and frustrating to listen to. I'm requesting a refund.

Could not listen

Excellent series. Love the books but neither my daughter or I enjoyed the performance so returned for another version.

Missing Anne of single side

This audiobook goes from Anne’s house of dreams straight to Rainbow valley - you miss the amazing Anne of Ingleside and there are no versions available.

Good!

This collection is definitely a deal. I had a hard time looking for the individual chapters but now I got it. The narrator is easy to understand.

It’s OK

I was glad to find an Anne collection in one audio book - that is definitely a good deal. But I find the narration to be distracting and even grating. I could barely get through Anne of Avonlea - the vocal interpretations of Davy and Gilbert were frankly bad. And it seems that in fact this audiobook doesn’t include the FULL collection of Anne stories, skipping Anne of Windy Poplars and Anne of Ingleside altogether. I wonder why? All in all, only OK.

Good narration, but terrible formatting

I decided to try out this collection after falling in love with Rachel McAdams’ version of Anne and wanting to continue on with Anne’s story. The narration is good, although it doesn’t have the same sweetness that McAdams brings to the characters. The reason why I am only giving the collection three starts is because of the way it is formatted. The books are all split into two different recordings, and the chapters don’t reset after a book has ended. For example, I am currently on Chapter 30 on Anne of the Island, but according to audible I am on Chapter 98 in the fourth book. It is very frustrating, as a little bit of care in formatting the book would have easily fixed this, making the collection much easier to navigate, especially if you lose track of your chapter. All in all, this collection is undoubtedly a great value, as it has all of the stories in one place. If one can stand the formatting, it is a steal!

A timeless story done well

The narration done by one is better than the other, but overall the narration is good. This is a really great collection of the full set of books. You can’t beat the price! They are not, however separated into books. The first book, Anne is Green Gables, for example, is Part 1 and the first part of Part 2, then Part 2 continues with book 2, Anne of Avonlea, etc.

Entirely charming and delightful narrators

The Anne of Green Gables Collection, offered through Audible, is entirely charming and delightful. The narrators, Susie Berneis and Tara Ward, do a lovely presentation of the texts and give life to the words!

captivating and well preformed

I loved this series so much! I started reading it in book form, but switched to audio book on book 3. It was so captivating and better as an audiobook.. I loved the tender moments between Anne and her loved ones, then getting to see the world Through her children's eyes. I also loved the narrator and how she used different voices for different characters.

The books are nothing like the t. v. series!

The author turned Anne, from a strong willed / minded, smart and imaginative young women into a dithering wife and mother...Mrs. Doctor Dear. The story also was a propaganda piece (both religious and political) displaying a narrow minded view of the world. My problem with the story is that I am applying my current sensibilities to a story set more than a century ago. Yet the author seemed to resent the bold, intelligent and well educated young character she created in the first few books, and recreated Anne -as a married woman- to become a placid pawn of her husband, children and housekeeper - a secondary character in books which should have been about Anne's life. Audible did a great job with the material.

Great collection 6 of 8 Anne Books

Book #4 Anne of Windy Poplars (between Anne of the Island and Anne's House of Dreams) and Book #6 Anne of Ingalside (between Anne's House of Dreams and Rainbow Valley) are not included in this collection, but this is a very good collection nonetheless.

Part Guide

Just as a warning, each book has a different Narrator. Some take a bit to get used to. So, if you're very picky about narrators I recommend a different title. Part 1: Anne Of Green Gables Chapters 1-28 Part 2: Anne Of Green Gables Chapters 29-38 Anne Of Avonlea Chapters 39-55 Part 3: Anne of Avonlea Chapters 56-68 Anne Of The Island Chapters 69-82 Part 4: Annes Of The Island Chapters 83-109 Annes House Of Dreams Chapters 110-115 Part 5: Annes House Of Dreams Chapters 115-141 Part 6: Annes House Of Dreams chapters 142-149 Rainbow Valley Chapters 150-168 Part 7: Rainbow Valley Chapters 169-184 Rilla Of Ingleside Chapters 185-198 Part 8: Rilla of Ingleside Chapters 199-219 Chronicles Of Avonlea Chapter 220-225 Part 9: Chronicles Of Avonlea Chapters 221-231 Further Chronicles Of Avonlea Chapters 232-247

Great story, good narrator, audiobook format is c

I love this story so much. And the furst narrator is engaging! The second narrator has a sweet voice but I much prefer the first. my big problem with the audiobook is that none of the chapters are labeled, book is broken into six parts for download purposes but not labeled. It's very difficult to tell which book I'm on, and Which chapter I'm in in that book. Twice, in the audiobook, the story shifts of abruptly and I I've tried to see if the book was changing or what caused the change. I've tried to rewind and relisten to make sure I didn't miss something. it would have been much easier had there been any indication of where in the story I was

Missing major parts of the story!

Missing Anne of Windy Poplars, Anne of Ingleside, Rilla of Ingleside and worst of all, it cuts from the middle of Rainbow Valley to the Avonlea Chronicles without even acknowledging the mistake.

Most disappointing book read ever

The books are out of order, it's missing books, and it does not have a consistent reader. Pick one and stick with it and for Petes sake put the books in order and include them ALL!!

Where is,”Anne of Ingleside”?

People who buy this book and are expecting to get all the books, find out that this book is missing, “Anne of Ingleside.” That’s the only bad thing. So if you get this series, buy, “Anne of Ingleside” too.

Wonderful! What a treat!

What a treat to find this on Audible! It’s a bargain to get 73 hours for 1 credit! The narrator does a great job. The story is inspiring - how a lonely orphan finds beauty, love, and belonging in a harsh world. I loved it at age six and I love it again at age 60. Highly recommended!

WORTH THE WAIT

To a reader nothing beats finding out the as the author originally meant it to be told. While this collection only has 6 of the 8 books. you can now read the whole with audible. I could not recommend it more. The ability to imagine is a precious gift for those of all ages. These books slow it to flourish. I think the books should be read in order. Books 4 and 6 need to be purchased separately. The narrations are well done and clear. I could not recommend this series more highly enjoy it I did

Missing two of the "Anne" books

This set is missing "Anne of Windy Poplars" and "Anne of Ingleside". The narrator of the first few books is TERRIBLE, painful to listen to. I would rather have bought the books separately with a decent narrator.

Not loving the narrator.

I purchased this to continue reading about Anne after reading the first book, narrated by Mary Sarah. Sorry to say that it is a huge disappointment to me after listening to the other narrator. Mary Sarah was awesome; this narrator, unfortunately, does not appeal to me at all. The story, itself, is enchanting! and I loved it and want more!
