His interest in her was purely professional...or so he told himself. Nash Kirkland had sought out Morgana Donovan, self-proclaimed witch, to help him research his latest screenplay. The hardheaded skeptic didn't believe for a minute she was what she professed to be, but Nash somehow found himself falling under her bewitching spell. Nash had never trusted his feelings. How could he be sure the irresistible passion he felt was real and not just some conjurer's trick?

Story
Caitlyn Sullivan had come from a long line of Hollywood royalty, stretching back to her Irish immigrant great-grandfather. At nine, she was already a star - yet still an innocent child who loved to play hide-and-seek with her cousins at the family home in Big Sur. It was during one of those games that she disappeared. Some may have considered her a pampered princess, but Cate was in fact a smart, scrappy fighter, and she managed to escape her abductors. Callan Cooper was shocked to find the bloodied, exhausted girl huddled in his house.

Just my luck - my new next door neighbor is a unicorn. Yep, the British hottie is clearly a mythical man because - get this - he's a sexy, witty, charming, big-hearted single dad. Who, wait for it, wants to find Mrs. Right and get hitched. He’s a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of man, and it’s a darn shame I’m not on the market. If I were, his accent alone would melt me. Add in the fact that he's a veterinarian, and my animal-loving heart would be flip flopping.

Publisher's Summary
Number one New York Times best-selling author Nora Roberts begins the Dragon Heart Legacy - a new trilogy of adventure, romance, and magick in The Awakening.
In the realm of Talamh, a teenage warrior named Keegan emerges from a lake holding a sword - representing both power and the terrifying responsibility to protect the Fey. In another realm known as Philadelphia, a young woman has just discovered she possesses a treasure of her own....
When Breen Kelly was a girl, her father would tell her stories of magical places. Now she’s an anxious 20-something mired in student debt and working a job she hates. But one day she stumbles upon a shocking discovery: Her mother has been hiding an investment account in her name. It has been funded by her long-lost father - and it’s worth nearly four million dollars.
This newfound fortune would be life-changing for anyone. But little does Breen know that when she uses some of the money to journey to Ireland, it will unlock mysteries she couldn’t have imagined. Here, she will begin to understand why she kept seeing that silver-haired, elusive man, why she imagined his voice in her head saying, "Come home, Breen Siobhan. It’s time you came home." Why she dreamed of dragons. And where her true destiny lies - through a portal in Galway that takes her to a land of faeries and mermaids, to a man named Keegan, and to the courage in her own heart that will guide her through a powerful, dangerous destiny.....

Ditch the Witch Stories. Nothing intriguing here.
Is it just me or is anyone else worn out with this theme? Maybe it would be tolerable if there was some fresh concept, but no, there is not, it has all been covered before. I feel cheated. In this story, a young woman discovers that her mom has been hiding the truth about her dad so off she goes to Ireland to track him down. Her best friend is a grossly clichéd gay guy sidekick who has the personality of a 1980's sitcom. Without much prelude, she discovers and accepts that she is a powerful witch and that her new found community needs her to save them. Now throw in ALL the other supernaturals you can think of with detailed descriptions of their powers, histories, and relationships (which have no bearing on this story), along with all the contrived names of people and places in the other world where the main character spends time, and you may find yourself wringing your hands trying to keep track of it all...for no reason though, because most of them don't have a storyline yet. Their connecting lines on this flow chart lead to a plot in another book, I suppose. It felt like studying for a test. The balance for laying the foundation for a series and weaving a riveting first book in a series is tilted so dramatically that I have zero interest in the next book. I will be returning this one, it really does read like words squashed between blocks in a flow chart.

this was a poor imitation of the Nora Roberts we all love and admire for the last 25+ years. It feels like a student attempt at a copy. the Narrator doesn't help as she makes it sound halting and pathetic. sad waste of an audible credit.

I honestly some out loud "NOOOO" when the music started, signaling that this book was over. What am I going to do now?!?! Wait. Dang it! I'm going to wait for the second...and hopefully a third!! Have always loved Nora, especially her most recent work. I'm a fantasy girl so her magic and fantasies are my favorites. The Awakening answered all my wants. What a cool way to escape our uncool, current reality. Narration was great as well! Waiting...

Ok... when does book two come out???
Great story, heck of an ending, impatient for book two. As usual, Nora Roberts writes a compelling story of relationships of many types (I don’t want to say too much as it could spoil the story for others). The story has similarities of others she has written, but that can’t be helped. This story has its uniqueness and excellence that tells you of her skill and dedication to bring to her readers a story that grabs you from page one and makes you hate her for making us wait for more. I loved the story!

Decent Story but narrator...meh
The story was fairly good, not nearly as good as The One, but okay. What I didn't care for was the main character came off way too naive and lacked any sense of her own personal power (too much self deprecating) - hopefully she'll display some more strength as the series goes on. To this end, the narrator did this character NO JUSTICE. She made her seem dense with her inflections and tone. Some of the other characters were done well, but no good with the main character.
