Story
Charlie Rhodes is psychic, telekinetic, and hiding in the one place where they’re looking for her. Enthusiastic to the point of being absurd, Charlie is gung-ho about her position with the Legacy Foundation, a group that travels the world looking to solve the unexplained and prove the existence of the paranormal. From one coast to the next, she (along with her merry band of misfits) investigates strange and odd phenomena...all the while pretending she’s a normal human being without magical to call on.

Publisher's Summary
Charlie Rhodes has spent her entire life wondering who her birth parents were, why they abandoned her, and where the magic she’s been learning to hone came from.
She’s finally going to get some answers.
With proof that the new member of the Legacy Foundation is really her brother, Charlie sets off to visit Salem with him and her boyfriend, Jack Hanson. She’s never been to the city before and finds that the history swirling is only one of the things that has her excited.
Not long after landing, a body is strung up in Salem Common, and witnesses say it was ghosts doing the dirty work. Jack is intrigued enough to call in the rest of the team. Since Charlie’s parents are supposedly taking refuge within the city limits, the investigation makes for a nice cover.
It’s not long before Charlie realizes that there’s more going on in Salem than witches and white magic. Something dark is festering under the surface, and whatever it is seems to be taking aim at her.
Charlie wants answers. She’s also afraid to get them. During the search for what she’s lost, though, she becomes more determined than ever to hold on to what she has.
There’s evil afoot, and a woman who looks like an older version of Charlie is stalking the group. Could the two things be connected? Charlie won’t leave until she knows for certain.
Salem’s history might be coming back to haunt those who venture into the city, and it’s up to the Legacy Foundation to figure out why...that is if they survive long enough to uncover the answers.
Hold on to your broomsticks, because it’s going to be a witchy ride.

Struggle to finish
I don’t know what happened with this book. All the characters were extremely petulant For the entirety of this. There is so much Unnecessary rambling and it was like listening to 16-year-old bicker about their relationships and why their life is so hard. And half the book felt like it was a filler because there wasn’t a content. The part step focus on the actual plot were interesting for the most part but at the same time Charlie and Jack weren’t behaving like their characters had a previous books. And their relationship has become so inadvertently toxic. There are only so many times they can pick her about the same thing over and over again where it doesn’t add to the plot value at all. Normally I devour are bucks but this one was a struggle.

Torn
I like the characters in this world but the love interest is so much of an alpha hole he borders on being emotionally abusive and overly controlling. It really takes you out of the story when you want the heroine to tell her boyfriend to shove off and go find someone better.

Charlie and Jack
I really enjoyed this book. It was a lot of fun and a lot of sweet between Charlie and Jack. Laura is as obstinate as usual. It's a sign of good writing when you feel super passionate about the characters. In this book, Jack and Charlie are trying to find answers for Charlies past. Casey is along for the ride, though his motives can't be determined. Their research leads them to Salem. The day after they arrive a body is left in the commons area. Multiple things going on, all interesting and woven neatly. I highly enjoyed the book. Definitely recommend.

Jack head security?
If Jack is head of security (only security for that matter) why is he not protecting anyone but Charlie? He doesn't go out with the group, only Charlie. This is stupid writing.
