Publisher's Summary

The thirteenth novel in the magical alternate history Elemental Masters series continues the reimagined adventures of Sherlock Holmes in a richly-detailed alternate Victorian England.

The threat of Moriarty is gone - but so is Sherlock Holmes.

Even as they mourn the loss of their colleague, psychic Nan Killian, medium Sarah Lyon-White, and Elemental Masters John and Mary Watson must be vigilant, for members of Moriarty’s network are still at large. And their troubles are far from over: in a matter of weeks, two headless bodies of young brides wash up in major waterways. A couple who fears for their own recently-wedded daughter hires the group to investigate, but with each new body, the mystery only deepens.

The more bodies emerge, the more the gang suspects that there is dangerous magic at work, and that Moriarty’s associates are somehow involved. But as they race against the clock to uncover the killer, it will take all their talents, Magic, and Psychic Powers - and perhaps some help from a dearly departed friend - to bring the murderer to justice.

Excellent work. The story kept you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. it was very difficult to stop listening. I can't wait for the next elemental story.

Not my favorite.

Not enough Sarah, Nan and the birds. Too much Necromancer. Not much meat to this story as the others and ,I have them all.😈

Thank you Mercedes Lackey

Have always liked this author. There are some gems in this one, had a great good laugh when they showed up. Glad I decided to listen to this one. The story would do fine without those particular scenes but I am glad they were put in. You go girl!!!

Great narrator!

I am a big Mercedes Lackey fan. I love the fact that the Elemental Master's stories contain bits, and pieces of the other stories including people from them as well and yet she can make them as stand alone (and those extra bits make you want to read the other books). This book has Nan and Sarah both using their powers in pursuit of a necromancer who has been killing young girls and cutting off their heads. Unbeknown to everyone is the fact that he was working for Moriarty trying to bring him back in to the real world from the first plain of death. Thanks to the narrator you can be right there with the girls striving to solve this mystery. This is a great read and even better to listen to through Audible.

enjoyable fantastical read.

narrator did a great job with a variety of characters. dialects. and accents. lackey builds on exusting characters from other elemental masters books. i was just wondering if we werepuld see Nan and Sarah again when i saw the preorder message both on Amazon and Audible. i ordered both versions. very satisfying tale. credible villains and heros. will listen to and read again
