Publisher's Summary

A new epic of love and war among gods and humans, from the number-one New York Times best-selling author of The Awakening.

The world of magick and the world of man have long been estranged from one another. But some can walk between the two - including Breen Siobhan Kelly. She has just returned to Talamh with her friend, Marco, who’s dazzled and disoriented by this realm - a place filled with dragons and faeries and mermaids (but no Wi-Fi, to his chagrin). In Talamh, Breen is not the ordinary young schoolteacher he knew her as. Here, she is learning to embrace the powers of her true identity. Marco is welcomed kindly by her people - and by Keegan, leader of the Fey. Keegan has trained Breen as a warrior, and his yearning for her has grown along with his admiration of her strength and skills.

But one member of Breen’s bloodline is not there to embrace her. Her grandfather, the outcast god Odran, plots to destroy Talamh - and now all must unite to defeat his dark forces. There will be losses and sorrows, betrayal and bloodshed. But through it, Breen Siobhan Kelly will take the next step on the journey to becoming all that she was born to be.

Amazing and I need more

I’m in love! I’ve reread this book already! Characters are great, plot is amazing and the way she writes is everything! I have nothing bad to say! There is a love story but it’s not like that’s the whole plot and I prefer that!

Not Nora’s best series

I accidentally wrote a review for the last book before I finished it and i regret that immensely! This series has been such a massive disappointment and had felt almost like such a big waste of time even reading. But because im such a fan will finish reading them. Would just advise on hers not to even bother doing so themselves though.

Magical!!

As the story of Breen continues to unfold in this book, l find it reminds me of other characters or situations in many other books l have read, like The Lord of the Rings, The Earth's children series and the Avatar movie all rolled into one. Too bad l have to wait 6 months to get the last book in the trilogy..or maybe there will be more..?

Loved this!!

I thoroughly enjoyed the audible version of the book. It’s the second of the series and it is a fabulous story. The audible performance was really great and I very much enjoyed listening to it. I am very much looking forward to the third and final book of the series. I highly recommend.

Loved the story

I haven’t read Nora Roberts books in years. I must say her writing has evolved and I truly enjoyed the story. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Loved it

If you like fantasy and escapism this is a great book. The romance was minimal and I found myself exclaiming encouragement to the character more than once.

Sometimes the narrator would mix up the accents however, she did multiple voices and really added to the color of the story.

Much Enjoyed!

The story was great and I also appreciated its excellent performance very much. I am a Nora Roberts fan, and I thought this was one of her better ones. It explores what the many shades of love, good, evil, kindness and cruelty are, within the contrasts of reality and magic worlds. I like her portrayal of people with diverse backgrounds and views, with pithy dialog that sounds like real people and are well described. l also like the dog is named Bollocks, the name reminds me of Dumbass the dog in another series. I find it amusing it also means testicles and I suspect she knows it does too, and it is not a mistake as some readers assume, but meant to evoke the sort of childish silly humor I still enjoy as well. Well worth the read!

Misleading Reviews

Read several reviews just before the book and found several knocking on the writer, the plot, and the length of the book. All of those were misleading because NR only built more on the characters and the landscape to allow the reader to be drawn in more deeply. Great second book to the series and can’t wait for the next! I’m sure that if “those readers” don’t like long books, Dr Seuss has some over in the children section that may be more to their liking. Just saying.

Cheezy

This did not read like any other Nora Roberts books. Full of nothing but cheezy moments that left me rolling my eyes or down right cringing. Complete let down. More than half half this story was filler, “I did it! I really did it”
Over and over again. Honestly shocked that they published this.

Return to Talamh!

This book picks up right after the events of The Awakening. Breen Siobhan (love her name!) is back in Ireland/Talamh and along for the ride is her BFF and brother, Marco. More adventures, meeting old and new friends, discovering her past and who she’s to become.
But Breen’s main goal is to stop her evil grandfather with the help of her friends and family.

The narrator is really good. There are lots of characters and she gave each a distinct voice, so it was easy to follow the story even without reading the book first.

Just do it!!

One of my favorite NR books! I’ve read almost all of hers and this is such a great story, not as romantic as others but there’s always excitement to keep listening for what’s next.

a romance in disguise not fantasy

Pvertly flowery pretentious prose make this book difficult to listen too. If you are into fantasy novels this is not one. it is a dragged out romance with poorly executed fantasy elements. if you love dragons well they are more of an accessory than a player in the book. I will pass on the 3rd book. she should have made it one book. no more Norah books for me. They are all the same. the narrator is overly dramatic and reads like she is making great pronouncements. I have read many free books better than this.
