Publisher's Summary

Josie works until her arms ache, until the paramedics arrive and pull her gently away from the woman’s cold, fragile body. Noah’s voice cracks beside her as he calls the time of death for his own beloved mother.

Arriving with her partner Noah for dinner at his family’s immaculate countryside home, Detective Josie Quinn is devastated to find Noah’s mother, Colette, lying lifeless in the back garden, her mouth clogged with soil.

Searching the house for answers, Josie’s team don’t know what to make of the rosary beads buried in the dirt near the body or the hidden file labelled “Drew Pratt”, the small town of Denton’s most famous missing person.

As she delves deeper into Pratt’s case, Josie quickly discovers he had a brother whose body mysteriously washed up on the banks of a river. There’s also a diary entry suggesting that Colette may have met him on the last day he was seen alive. Can Josie believe the unthinkable, that a kind old soul like Colette might have been involved in their murders? And will Josie’s new relationship with Noah survive the accusation?

Josie’s only hope lies in tracking down Pratt’s daughter. But when she arrives at her home to find she’s been murdered just minutes before, Josie knows the real killer is one step ahead and won’t stop until Colette’s secret is buried forever. With many more innocent lives on the line, how deep is Josie prepared dig to reach the truth?

An absolutely gripping crime thriller that will have you up all night! If you love Angela Marsons, Robert Dugoni, or Rachel Caine you’re guaranteed to be hooked from the very first moment.

Narration

Way too many mispronounced words! Obviously the performance is not reviewed or edited before going into post production. Takes away from overall enjoyment.

Thriller to the end

I was once again swept up by this mystery thriller. The people are realistic and have the same issues most of us have. Highly recommend

Many similarities to Patricia Gibney’s Lotti Parker stories.

Although, it’s easy to fall in love with Jo Jo... many of Regans books have fallen close to Gibney’s storylines. If you’ve read any of The Lotti Parker series you know what I’m talking about. I strongly felt that I was familiar with these books, and that when it dawned on me.. overall the books are good. I will listen to the last one in this series, but then onto the more gripping books by Gibney.

Engaging

The author writes a lot of twists and turns in this engaging book. So many deaths and a determined police detective to discover the reason for each death.

Great book

This book was well written with a lot of twists and turns. I was hooked from the start. So glad I didn't figure it all out until it was revealed. Great characters that I loved. The narrator did a good job.

So Good- So Much Better!

I am so bummed that there isn’t a Book 6 yet. The books have always been brilliant but the first three suffered with a poor narrator. Normally I wouldn’t continue with an author if I couldn’t listen to the audible version, but these novels are so good, twists, turns, everything a reader wants. The new narrator is fantastic. She sounds like the past narrator who was pleasant. So the new narrator is just good or she is the old one with speech therapy and a new name. GREAT SERIES PLEASE DO MORE!

Another hard to put down book!

Just when you think that this author can’t outdo herself...she produces yet another excellent book and proves you wrong! This book finds Josie in the midst of solving the murder of the mother of her boyfriend, and fellow detective, Noah Freely. What information did Noah’s mother have that would cause her death? While Josie works on this case, she is dealing with Noah pulling away from her...and his sister’s obvious dislike of her. As the bodies pile up, Josie and her team work tirelessly to find this killer.
Looking forward to the next book!!

STORY SO CAPTIVATING!!!

Lisa Regan is a master at suspense. This is one of the best series around. I listened to all five books without a break! It's just one BIG story from start to finish. It was truly hard for me to stop listening. I highly recommend this series for those who love suspense/thrillers! I can't wait for a new release. Although I didn't mind Kate Handford's narration, there are others that would bring the story to life a little better for me. I prefer narrators that have multiple voices in their repertoire. Thus, there's never a doubt who is speaking. Kate Handford will eventually have that but not at present time.
