Publisher's Summary

The number one New York Times best-selling series finale and sequel to A Discovery of Witches and Shadow of Night.

Look for the hit TV series A Discovery of Witches, streaming on AMC Plus, Sundance Now, and Shudder.

Bringing the magic and suspense of the All Souls Trilogy to a deeply satisfying conclusion, this highly anticipated finale went straight to number one on the New York Times best seller list. In The Book of Life, Diana and Matthew time-travel back from Elizabethan London to make a dramatic return to the present - facing new crises and old enemies. At Matthew’s ancestral home, Sept-Tours, they reunite with the beloved cast of characters from A Discovery of Witches - with one significant exception. But the real threat to their future has yet to be revealed, and when it is, the search for Ashmole 782 and its missing pages takes on even more urgency.

Exceptional! Sincerest thanks.

I have read countless books and series set in vampire/witch/demon and other supernatural worlds. This series by far, was the most captivating, riveting, balanced, and well woven adventure I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I was literally transported throughout the entire series. I assure you that I am VERY selective and critical given that I am well travelled, am passionate about history, philosophy, and have deep knowledge of letters and science (linguistics psychology background and I am a neuroscientist) and I rarely if ever, write reviews. I was simply astonished at how brilliant these books are. The craft with which this series was constructed is simply stellar.. Also, how it gets to the very heart of true humanity, both its failings and triumphs is without compare in supernatural fiction. Stellar, just stellar. Thank you for all your hard work and so evident passion for your art. I would also like to "souligner" the masterful performance of the reader Jennifer Ikeda without whom, this rich work would not have come to life as it has done. I say in the 7 langages I speak, BRAVO!

Fine resolution

It was fine. Just fine. I needed to know how it ended, though for me it went off the rails a bit. The characters lost some of their staple traits and became very generic by the end. Still, perfectly fine.

Great end to a trilogy

I love how the trilogy ended. I will miss these characters. Listening to this book added to the story.

Diana’s character is horrible

The first two books were good. But this book was horrible. Absolutely horrible romanticism with not an ounce of practicality. Diana constantly puts her unborn babies in danger. She is stupid, emotional and stubborn. She is the one that tells Matthew to start his own coven then when he does what he has to do, she starts moaning. I absolutely disposed her. She doesn’t do what the goddess asks and he hesitates to do what she says to Ben.I hope this character is dead in the next book and it’s more focused on her children. I feel sorry for Matthew who actually has a brain and is still trying to meet Diana’s ridiculously stupid and dangerous demands.

I was happy when the series finished.

I have never been happier to end a series. Three books of tea drinking and moping.

Excellent Series

I’ve listened to this series twice now, love it. Even though it’s one reader you can clearly hear who’s character is speaking.

Great series

Amazing series but was very disappointed that the Scottish character galoglass half way through this book had an American accent instead of Scottish!?

Amazing narration

The narrator is so amazing with custom voices of each character that she greatly enhances the storytelling

Amazing Narrator, Compelling Story.

Despite the sometimes cringe worthy schmaltz of the protagonist and her love interest, this is one of my favourite series to listen to over and over again.
The narration is flawless, and the story is not wholly like any other I’ve ever read or listened to.

Best Narration ever

This is a captivating trilogy for sure. Loved the story lines. And I have to say, this narrator has ruined me for all other narrators. What a talent. Nailed every accent and character and there a lot in this series. Bravo!
