Very insightful! Lots of praise... and one complaint

I have listened to Part 1 and Part 2 of these audiobooks. I love hearing Brother Ridges’ insights and the references he draws from. He has helped me to see things I’ve never noticed before in the many years I’ve been studying the Book of Mormon.
I do have a small issue with one aspect of Brother Ridges’ approach. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I am Canadian. There are multiple instances in the content of both Parts 1 and 2 when Brother Ridges’ reveals that his target audience is Americans only. This isn’t a large issue, but it does take away from the listening experience, as a church member from another English-speaking country. For instance, in Part 2, Brother Ridges likens an insight from Alma 43 and the following ‘war chapters’ to a trend that is affecting “our nation,” by which he means the USA. However, the parallel was general enough that it could easily have been applied to other nations. Wording such as “the USA” or “the USA and other nations” or “many nations” would have fit just as well. Instead, by saying “our nation” it just reminded me that I was listening to someone who didn’t recognize that I was part of his audience. Easily forgivable, but distracting all the same. Another time, Brother Ridges gives an example of a young man going on a mission, and then “returns to the United States.” Again, no big issue, except it could just as easily have been worded “returns to his home country,” in acknowledgement of the many Latter-day Saint missionaries who leave from and return to their home countries all over the world.
Perhaps Brother Ridges didn’t really expect his words to be as far-reaching as they are, but clearly they are available and worth the time of English-speaking disciples of Jesus Christ in other parts of the world as well!
I look forward to hearing more great insights from this faithful Brother.
