Bit of a let down
I've been on a Sarah denzil binge, love her stories from beginning to end. This one was a bit of a let down at the end. I feel like the writer just decided to wrap it up, she leaves too many gaps.

Not a book for me!
This was my first book by this author, and I am not positive I will purchase another.
I found the story quite far fetched, for lack of a better term. I can tolerate quite a few literary ideas that require a bit of imagination and suspension of disbelief however, I feel that the author took too many liberties in this book.
I also really disliked the ending! First, I felt like it wrapped everything up too quickly. I was shocked to hear the narrator say "epilogue". I felt there were still lots to the story that could have been told. Secondly, I felt i was left with too many questìons and presume the author wants the reader to decide some of these for themselves, but for me, I dislike this.

not totally gripping but loved it anyway
I was definitely entertained. i was scratching my head with lots of theories to the mystery! some people say the narrator wasn't good but each characters voice suited them well. u have to be able to listen to thick British accent. I recommend if ur looking for a quick read.

No sure why this got such great reviews....
This was boring and weird. The narrator sounded like a little old grandmother. Yikes- don't even waste your time.

Decent
Not so bad. Sofie is a woman with an abusive mother, a timid personality and a lonely life.
She begins to be stalked and the story leads to learning who is behind it.
While not exciting in anyway, it passes the time nicely and seemed to keep my interest.

The Broken Ones
Kept my interest. Well written. I had the audible version and liked the narrator. The ending surprised me. I received the PDF version at no charge but paid for the audible version. The book is not the usual type of mystery but it is an enjoyable mysterious. I would like to read more books by this author.

Mind Bending Suspense
This is a great mind messing book. Not give to much away, you do feel sorry for the mane character and wonder the whole time if her mother has finally pushed her off the deep end. The ending is sickly satisfying.

A mystery with a Hitchcock atmosphere
An English school teacher spends her nights caring for her mother who is declining with early-onset Alzheimer's. It's not a happy chore, caring for a woman who was angry and cruel when she was a child and is no more pleasant under the burden of this disease.
Strange things begin to happen. Lost keys. A found button. Memories of a shadow friend. Her mother wakes in the dark hours telling of a presence in her room.
Soon she learns that her mother carries a horrible secret.
Denzil has created a mystery in the Hitchcock tradition as strange events compile around a lonely woman. The reader is teased along wondering whether it's the mother, a man from an online dating site who she only met for tea, or is she the one doing these things with no memory? It has the feel and pace of a horror story until there's a sudden shift in the action and the ending may make you question your own feelings. In any case it's an unusual book that is an interesting and often spooky read. Your ultimate feeling about the book will probably depend on whether or not you accept the sudden change in action and the mystery's reveal. I won't spoil a bit of it for you but I'm still pondering the twist and the ending a few days after finishing the book.
Alison Larkin deserves particular praise for a really exceptional reading.

I was quite surprised as I really like the author. The book was dragged out and boring. Totally predictable.

Suspenseful and brilliant reading
The story was refreshingly new and was brilliantly read by Alison Larkin. The Voice differentiation for characters was amazing. The story itself kept me hooked and I couldn't wait to finish the very last bit. Living with an Alzheimer patient is difficult and the author took you straight there.
