Story
Trinity Marrow has lost the battle and her beloved Protector. Even with both demons and Wardens on her side, Trin may not win the war against the Harbinger. Bringing Lucifer back to the world to fight the Harbinger is probably a really, really bad idea, but they're out of options—and the world's ultimate fallen angel is the only being powerful enough to impact the outcome. As Trin and Zayne form a new and more dangerous bond and Lucifer unleashes Hell on earth, the apocalypse looms and the world teeters on the end of forever. Win or lose, nothing will ever be the same.

Alexandria isn’t sure she’s going to make it to her 18th birthday - to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she’s a goner...and so is Aiden. If that’s not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training" - which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time - she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: Become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway.

No one is like Daemon Black. When he set out to prove his feelings for Katy, he wasn't fooling around. Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome - especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom - so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do - and sacrifice - for her.

Story
It's been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they've given him have been violent and bloody - which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth: He has to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet.

Publisher's Summary
Number one New York Times, USA Today, and internationally best-selling author Jennifer L. Armentrout returns to the world of the Lux with The Burning Shadow, the steamy, shocking second installment of the Origin series that will leave listeners reeling.
When Evelyn Dasher crossed paths with Luc, she was thrown headfirst into the world of the Lux - only to discover she was already far more involved in their world than she ever suspected.
Because the Luxen aren’t the only ones with a hidden past. There’s a gap in Evie’s memory, lost months of her life and a lingering sense that something happened, something she can’t remember and nobody is willing to tell her. She needs to find out the truth about who she is - and who she was. But every answer she finds only brings up more questions.
Her search for the truth brings her ever closer to Luc, the Origin at the center of it all. He’s powerful, arrogant, inhumanly beautiful, extremely dangerous...and possibly in love with her. But even as Evie falls for him, she can’t help but wonder if his attraction is to her or to the memory of a girl who no longer exists.
And all the while, a new threat looms: reports of a flu-like, fatal virus that the government insists is being spread by Luxen. A horrifying illness that changes whoever it touches, spreading panic across a country already at its breaking point.

Great story, strong female rdiculously written.
I love this author, I have this series and others. Yet, generally speaking for the love of baby jesus WHY WHY WHY do authors write, smart, strong female lead characters who upon facing something become ridiculously unable to sort out basic concepts like secrets and why they happen. Writing a character with above average self awareness in extreme circumstances, only to conveniently forget everything that has happened and start behaving like an emotional mess with inner and outer cringe dialogue that is irrational and the opposite of how they are being written overall.. It's exhausting.

The Burning Shadow
Ok wow, so much happens in this book in all the good ways. We really get to the meat of what is going on and how Evie. This whole book was jam-packed with action. I found the darkest star left us with sooooo many unanswered questions and this book gives them all to us but also leaves us wanting MORE.
I loved the romance happening between Luc and Evie you can see genuine affection from both even though Evie questions herself a lot Luc never does it really is a great story.
The narration was PHENOMENAL!

Great srory. Exceptional Narratipn
I find Jennifer's books tragic and intense. So much ao I think I will choose a very superficial and fun story for my next read! I greatly enjoyed revisiting the unique and imaginative Lux universe and catching up with our dear friends - they are woven into tbe story in fun ways but this is Luc and Peaches story and it is totally gripping.
Saskia's narration is superior - one of those rare situations where I wanted to race back to the audiobook in preference to reading.

A little disappointing......
**Conatins spoilers**
I guess I went into this thinking it was going to be another great series like Lux (my favorite series) but sadly, very sadly I was greatly disappointed. I wanted to love it because of Luc but there was way too much of Evie's/Nadia thought process I wanted to scream and it was repetitive. I almost stopped listening to it but pressed on no matter how bored I got. There were more than several fantastic moments though with Daemon, his brother, Asher and at the end Evie met Kat and the whole gang! That made my day! Some cussing, very little violence and not enough intimate moments between Luc and Evie! I know, sad, right??!! They had one night of serious messing around but didn't have sex. Then there was a very sad moment with Kent.... enough said (I stinkin actually cried!). You know there will be a 3rd book but honestly, I've lost interest.

Narration felt a little off...
So let me start by saying I love Jennifer Armentrout and her books but this one was a little slow for me. I still love look and all his pick up lines and goofy shirts. Evie is still very spunky and finding her place in the world is hard when she learns more of her past. On another note I read the first book and got the audio book on this one. The voice on Evie just missed the mark. She is supposed to be 17 and the voice just didn't match to me so it made it a little difficult for me. This may not be a problem with alot of people but it was for me. I hope the third book picks up the pace a little more and has more of the characters from the first series.
