Fifteen years ago, the remote Russian city of Nobilsk goes dark. Three hundred kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, this closed city is shrouded in secrecy and home to a level-four security bio-research facility. But when a Russian virologist sends a desperate message to the British Consulate, claiming that the worst has happened, it's all hands on deck.

SAS trooper Solomon Church, alongside a small team, are dropped into the Siberian tundra with a vital mission: extract the virologist, secure his research, and destroy everything else. But when they arrive, what they expect, and what they discover are two very different things. And what begins as a rescue mission, quickly becomes something much, much deadlier...

In the present, a retired Solomon Church receives the kind of phone call he dreads. Interpol head, and friend, Julia Hallberg tells him she needs his help. They've been tracking the movements of a terrorist cell in the UK who are trying to buy a pathogen from a private Chinese biotech company. But something went wrong, and by the time Interpol and armed response arrive, the buyers and sellers are dead, the scene a bloody mess, and the pathogen missing. It's a race against time to find the missing carrier, and stop the spread of an unknown pathogen into the greater population. But as the clock counts down and more information begins to surface about what they're chasing, the truth becomes apparent. It's not a few lives at stake... But maybe the fate of the whole world.
