Publisher's Summary

Returning to town after a weekend on their ranch in Montana, James and Connor Andderson learn firsthand that the dead are coming back to life. As the nation succumbs to an outbreak unlike anything ever seen, the brothers must gather their supplies and set out on a road trip to save their parents from a fate worse than death itself. Their naïve optimism quickly fades, and the choices they confront will leave them scarred for life.

Meanwhile, Emmett Wolfe, along with his daughter and ex-wife, leave Texas bound for a safe haven in Alaska. Along the way, they rescue a mysterious young woman from a shopping mall.

Tank finds himself amidst a group of survivors heading north, but their convoy is stopped dead in its tracks when they're ambushed by a gang of ruthless killers. Escaping the attack, Tank and two others are hunted through Wyoming by the bloodthirsty Reclaimers.

As the virus spreads across America, the remaining survivors must band together to fight not only the walking dead, but the living as well. Their journey to the Alaskan wilderness is met with constant hardship, betrayal, and death. But as the world crumbles around them, they will come to realize they cannot lose what makes them human.

Good Story

Good story, a lot of religion though... reader needs some more emotion. Author needs a thesaurus and needs to look up said! uses it a LOT! all together he said she said he said. how about replied, smiled, laughed.... lots of other words to use than said over and over in a paragraph!

"GOD, GEAR, AND GUNS"

You are forgiven if at times you find yourself pinching the bridge of your nose, eyes closed & shaking your head, and asking yourself why you're still listening.
The protagonists wander the country in lift-kitted tricked-out Ford F450s customized with bulletproof glass (as one does), eating stockpiled MREs, dressed in Camo for some reason, carrying suppressed and scoped ARs/AKs, modeling LARPer-quality web-gear, and using an assortment of "tactical" K-BAR knives, machetes, tomahawks, and (I'm not kidding) homemade replicas of video game swords -  to slaughter the endless hordes of Zombies and Psycho Gangs that spring up roughly 24 hours after the first reported case. When not taking down dozens of undead at a time, our heroes are fantasizing about the ridiculously fully-armed trailer park sweeties that they rescue, having inner dialogues about how their souls were saved when they found Christ, killing (& torturing) sociopathic bad guys, and rescuing disposable clueless dumbf**k "civvies". These books describe a Prepper/MilitiaMan/Evangelical/NRA Nut's hero-fantasy wet dream.

Between screeding that "CCN" lies to the people and "The Government" is hiding what they know from the public.. our heroes kill *anyone* who "messes with my family" and pray to Jesus before storming the omnipresent compounds of evil treacherous bleeding hearts, do-gooders, and corporate elites that secretly want to feed their women to zombies. One can almost hear "Let's Go Brandon" chants in the background.

If you can get past the right-wing dogwhistles and "alpha male" nonsense, however, the cartoonish violence is a fun bit of adrenaline-soaked brain candy.
To be sure, these Joshua C. Chadd books occasionally read like a parody-worthy collection of gun manufacturer's sales brochures ("she looked hot with her 5.56mm Bushmaster ACR with angled foregrip, flashlight-equipped swappable 17" barrel, Trigicon ACOG laser-guided 4 X 32 scope, and 38-round spring-loaded magazine swinging comfortably at the end of her pink camo 42-inch tactical bamboo-fibre sling.."), but also include 2-dimensional yet plausible characters, quasi-military tech sufficient for an obsessed Shooting-Range addict to geek out on, endless references to video games and Mullet-Metal music, and action-packed, well-choreographed encounters.

Reader Graham Halstead displays some pretty average voice-acting, but does a nice job bringing professional diction, a comfortable timbre/cadence, and a solid (if unspectacular) tone to the project, too. Tantor Audio cast the book adequately.

In summary..

Okay, it's bad. Quite Bad.

I rate this collection of "books" 1 star out of 10. For free, though, I don't feel like I totally wasted my time.. I just set logic aside and held on for the ridiculous ride. If you can do the same, these few hours are unlikely to rot your brain completely - especially if you're a First-Person-Shooter-addicted Incel who hangs on every word that Q-Anon posts to 8-Chan - but if they ask for a Credit, laugh in their face and download something else.

[Incidentally: It's genuinely impressive how Chadd manages to hammer home the nonsensical "Military Good. Guv'mint Bad." narrative. He provides great wanking material for MAGA]

Couldn’t finish it!

It’s like the author crammed months of development of a post-apocalyptic society into 3 days. He also very much cared about sharing how much he knew about guns at the expense of telling us about people.

The narrator could have used intonation. Zero emotion came across.

I couldn’t finish the first book.

I have no idea how anyone could give this a bad review. I had a hard time coming off RC Bray as a narrator but this was really good. Highly recommend

Very good

Basically this story takes you through the first month of the zombie apocalypse.
2 brothers who are each other’s best friend and can shoot , survive in the wilderness and have the courage to wade in and get the mission accomplished.
There is a whole supporting cast of characters. My favourite is the retired Marine sergeant who’s daughter is the sole reason for living and agrees to lead the drive to escape the zombie hoards by going from Texas to the wilds of Alaska.
Narrative is excellent and the value of all books in the series on one audiobook is amazing.

Christian book with a couple Zombies in it..

This is not a Zombie book! This a Christian story with a few Zombies... nothing wrong with that but lets make it clear what you are getting into.

Very Religious right out of the gate

Way to focused around god and faith for my taste in apocalyptic fiction. Author really pours it on right from the get go.

"These books sucked." James said.

"Yup." Said Conner. "Yup." Said Tank.
"Said" repeated so many times I wanted to scream!

I really wanted to like this but just couldn't

The book has great potential but its just so cliche I couldn't finish it. The main characters have almost every item they could possibly want to survive a zombie outbreak and the few items they don't have they find shortly after. The first few hours read like a wish list of specific gear. I didn't overly mind the divine intervention but the unrealistic timeline of the fall of civilization made it unbearable. Four days into the outbreak they are captured by a priest who is sacrificing people to zombies to save his 'flock', seriously on fourth day after an outbreak? Something similar happens on day 6. It just doesn't make any sense and I couldn't keep listening.

I've never written review until now. when I picked this up it hadn't had any so my expectations were low. But I can say this is one of the best books I have ever read. The book really hit home for me if you like zombies cheesy 80 style dialogue video games and outdoors this book is an absolute must

great a ton a d you might just get saved

what a great series, a ton, suspense, Christian values, not at the expense of a great story. Download the book and have fun. You won't regret it and will have trouble putting it down.

Disappointing

Think King James Bible meets The Walking Dead. The Narration was great. The story had the potential to be a great story but bounced between zombies and the characters struggle in their religious belief. It was a endless circle of religious doubt and contemplation. To the author... a little goes a long way a lot becomes preaching. Preaching is fine but pick the correct genre.
