i was hoping for a twist, this is predictable.

the performance of the actor reading the male part was up tight and choppy. It was too obvious he was reading a book instead of telling a story. I couldn’t get past chapter 5

Enjoyed this lighthearted enemies to lovers. Was a good palate cleanser after my last heavy read. Narrators were really good . Wish female narration had more parts but the male was really good . liked his voice. Story was cute . Medium paced and had a HEA. I would give the Spice 🌶️🌶️ . overall I would give it 3.5

I was certain the male narrator was AI. He mispronounces words frequently and his cadence is weird - he couldn’t be a human. I’m still not convinced.

The story is readable but probably forgettable. I appreciate that it’s set in Victoria but the description of the city is vague. I plan to deep dive the author to decide if she has ever been to BC. “Cottage” not cabin, private care homes, zero mention that Penny would have monthly income as a senior in Canada. Picky details but these things stuck out to me.

90% of the spice is a kiss on the forehead… it’s bell peppers not hot peppers. The book is an excellent pallet cleanser if you’ve read too much smut. The FMC is a doormat with a big heart, the MMC is an a$$hole she reforms. Predicable but there’s no story to write if he didn’t change.

Really liked this story. I like how it started and how Richard attitude changed towards Katie

Very good listen

I loved this story about Richard and Katie. His childhood story is depressing, but Katie is too. How she helps him become a better person is such a touching story. His parents neglect him and do not know love until Katie and the new position at a new company show him that there is love.

He is trying to get revenge on his company by going to another backfire, but ends up doing well in the long run. He makes a contract with Katie for a marriage to help him get into the new company, and during this time, he learns that love does exist.

I recommend it and am going to read the next one, called The Baby Clause.

The first 3/4 was ok. What I would consider light reading, interesting enough but no real substance. The last 1/4 was I listened on x2 speed because it was painful. It sounded like a poorly translated book.

Narrator had some pronunciation issues.
