Story
Almost every religion, spiritual practice, philosophy and person grapples with fear. The most repeated phrase in the Bible is “Be not afraid.” The ancient Greeks spoke of phobos, panic and terror. It is natural to feel fear, the Stoics believed, but it cannot rule you. Courage, then, is the ability to rise above fear, to do what’s right, to do what’s needed, to do what is true. And so it rests at the heart of the works of Marcus Aurelius, Aristotle, and CS Lewis, alongside temperance, justice, and wisdom.

Story
To master anything, one must first master themselves–one’s emotions, one’s thoughts, one’s actions. Eisenhower famously said that freedom is really the opportunity to practice self-discipline. Cicero called the virtue of temperance the polish of life. Without boundaries and restraint, we risk not only failing to meet our full potential and jeopardizing what we have achieved, but we ensure misery and shame. In a world of temptation and excess, this ancient idea is more urgent than ever.

A lot of times, when people think about success, they immediately start to think about their goals. They look at their life and start to measure their accomplishments. I then ask these people, of their goals, how many they would say they accomplish in a year or month. In most cases, they have set goals but they have no idea of the steps or work it takes to accomplish them. I tell you, although we set goals, the outcome we desire is a specific set of results. Let's look at the big picture.

From the world’s foremost expert on power and strategy comes a daily devotional designed to help you seize your destiny.
Robert Greene, the number-one New York Times best-selling author, has been the consigliere to millions for more than two decades. Now, with entries that are drawn from his five books, plus never-before-published works, The Daily Laws offers a page of refined and concise wisdom for each day of the year, in an easy-to-digest lesson that will only take a few minutes to absorb. Each day features a Daily Law as well - a prescription that listeners cannot afford to ignore in the battle of life. Each month centers around a major theme: power, seduction, persuasion, strategy, human nature, toxic people, self-control, mastery, psychology, leadership, adversity, or creativity.
Who doesn’t want to be more powerful? More in control? The best at what they do? The secret: Listen to this book every day.
“Daily study,” Leo Tolstoy wrote in 1884, is “necessary for all people.” More than just an introduction for new fans, this book is a Rosetta stone for internalizing the many lessons that fill Greene’s books and will reward a lifetime of reading and rereading.

Chapters are Busted
I've always loved Robert Greene's work, and I was excited to receive this audiobook. However, the chapter markers in audible aren't synced to the beginning of each daily entry, making it nearly impossible to listen to as the writer and performer intended. If Audible were to fix this, I'd happily change my review, but as it stands now I'm out a credit and likely to spend more money on the book itself. Really disappointed in this one.

Huge Disappointment. Giant mish mosh
If you are new to Robert Greene's work, this will be a good book...it still is a good book. However, what he did here was simply sloss all his previous books into one book and that makes the book a great disappointment.
He got the "daily" term from Ryan Holiday who is a total hack and plagiarizer of Greene's previous works for his stoicism snake oil. He did this book to make a quick buck which is TOTALLY out of character for Robert.
Having followed Robert for the past ten years, overall this book is a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. I was waiting all year for this. This is making me nervous if his next book, Law of the Sublime, is going to be a bomb.

This review is about the audio recording
Robert Greene is a brilliant researcher, writer, and storyteller but whoever produced this audio book screwed up. My wife and I tried to follow each days lesson as the introduction suggests. However each day chapter does not start with a lesson. They start in mid-sentence and after a few sentences, we get to the lesson. And then the narrator reads the footnotes like what other Robert Greene book these lessons are from. This is not pleasant for listening at all and no thought was put into the experience for the listener. I'm going to buy this book and try to get a refund for the Audible version.

Great combination
This book is highly unique; it takes one lesson per day and examines it with all of Robert Greene's books, short, simply to the point. I recommend all his books. This, however, is great for a daily reminder and a great way to help combine all his lessons that overlap in his different books, incredibly innovative and creative, can't wait for the sublime.

The book was great. The chapters, not so much.
Unless it was something with my particular download to my phone, the chapters cuts aren’t aligned properly. This means that maybe the last 20-25% of chapters start and stop in the middle of a chapter. Wouldn’t mean much if you’re just reading straight through but this presents and ugly problem when to go back for something specific.
Other than that, it’s another Robert Greene masterpiece.
