Publisher's Summary

The complete Dark Road series in one collection.

Ben Davis was prepared for disaster. He just didn't know it would come so soon. He and his teenage son Joel, are miles deep in the backcountry of the San Juan Mountains when high-altitude nuclear electromagnetic detonations light up the pre-dawn sky. Ben, Joel, and their dog, Gunner, must make their way home - or whatever's left of it - on foot.

too slow and too constrained

While you get attached to this father and son relationship, the story don't develop fast enough. the author looses time on what they do hour by the hour and you soon realize that these details does not impact the story. in clear, there is not much happening here and there are no surprises.

I don't know if you can call it a book.

book one is the setting and the other "books" that follow should be chapters. I'm glad it was in a collection but buying so many "books" to learn about the trip back to collorado makes me feel scammed. I like how practical the solutions and challenges are. the story is very plausible. the story moves along a little slow. I suppose I wouldn't mind the extra detail or internal thought narratives but because I have to buy each chapter separately I'm annoyed by it

Immature

Immaturely written. Suitable for high school level. I know this genre is popular and there are endless amounts of these stories written. Too bad many of these are almost carbon copies of each other.

There are some that excel in this genre. This series is not one of them. Also the reader is poor.   This series isn't worth the money.
