Awesome

This being my first audio book i’ve ever listened too, i has no expectations but was easily sucked back into the Lux series. I was impressed with the narrator, i was scared of getting bored while listening but Saskia did an awesome job. She did different tones for each character. Im reading another series at the moment and wish Saskia was reading instead lol! And of course, JLA has done it again, SO GOOD

Love this world!

I really enjoyed this story and the narrator ras wonderful. Had the been a male as well, I think it would have so much more dynamic. But I loved it.

This was beyond amazing in typical JLA style

DS was my most expected book for this year and it was definitely worth the wait. I am such a crazy fan of Lux and have read the series more times that I could count. So being back in this world was like a dream come true, like coming home after being away for a while. I haven’t realized how badly I missed the whole gang. And my heart was overflowing with so many emotions the moment I stepped back in the Lux universe. And the audio is great. This voice is so Evie <3 Loved it <3

Luc was his typical overconfident, a little arrogant and a lot awesome self. I laughed a lot with him in here, but there was this sweet, caring, overprotective side of him that we saw a lot and it would absolutely make you swoon. He was just the perfect, dreamy BBF material.

I was kind of surprised at the beginning that the whole book was told from Evie’s POV, but her backstory was so intriguing that it sucked me in from page one. She seemed like the normal, regular kind of girl with very human hobbies and interests. But she was anything but that. There were lots of things about her that were revealed one after another and kept my interest to the very end. She was a true enigma and still is, even though lots of questions were answered there are a ton more that are still running in my mind.

The love between Luc and Evie was a slow-burning one and I really liked the fact he was so attentive and gave her the space she needed to come to terms with the relationship they were building. I never took him for the patient type, but apparently, he somehow changed through the years and grew a little in a very good way. Be prepared to sigh and drool a lot during this book.

But also expect a lot of action, some epic battles and some very intensive and nail-biting moments in typical JLA style. I absolutely forgot how awesome Luc was and the extent of his abilities. He showed some serious powers and I really enjoyed seeing him in fight-mode. He was awesome, as well as some other very well known friends who made an appearance.

Seriously, I wouldn’t have dreamt of a better spin-off to Lux series. I absolutely loved it. So many emotional moments, so many twists and turns, so many secrets revealed, so many new favorite characters made and so much more to come. All the feels, all the stars, top read for the year and a new favorite book couple. Great come-back in the Lux universe and holy alien babies, I need moreeeeeeee!

LUC is BACK!!

Luc is back everyone!!

Ok if you are a fan of the Lux series then you know, you know how long we have all wanted a Luc story. I think this was perfect it was exactly how it should have been. Now that I am done I WANT MORE!! Like yesterday but all things in time. ;)
Does not mean I can not want it. :P
Do not judge me! Haha

Evie is amazing; I just enjoyed her character even when things come up she is authentically herself and that is rare for characters to still feel like they do at the beginning to the end when so much happens.
We did get a few of our old friends and as much as I missed them I am glad we did not get too much of them because I really think this book needed to be about Luc.

Now for the narrator, Saskia is amazing I enjoyed her performance she really brings the story to life and can keep you interested and enjoyed it and hope she continues to narrate this series.

I was confused - Spoilers in this review

First of all I wish the narrator would have listened to The Lux Series first. Since Daemon is the main character in the 5 book series. It just bugged me that she read his name as Daimon instead of Demon.

Second, the story line itself was too unbelievable. To think Sgt. Dasher could have any type of loving relationship with a Luxen.

Plus, in the Lux Series, Daemon asked where Dasher was and was told he died in the Vegas fight.

if he died in the Vegas fight which was before the Luxen invasion, he couldn't have been at the house when Evie was brought home because Evie was wherever Luc was during the invasion.

I love Jennifer Armentrout and J. Lynn but I really would've like the story to mesh with her original Lux version. There were many directions she could have gone without changing details.

Nice to finally have Luc's story.

I was always intrigued with Luc but I had a bit of difficulty separating the 19 yr old adult Luc, in this book to the Luc in Obsidian, with Daemon and Kat. He was about 15 back then and so immature and now, well, I had a hard time separating when he got intimate (not quite sex yet), I guess messed around more than just kiss Evie. I gave it a 4 star because there were several moments with Daemon in it. Lol. Narrator was pretty good, not great but it was doable.

Great world building

Great characters and great narration. Suspense and drama mixes with romance and fear in this first book of the series. I think it is a good foundation to build upon.

So good

I looooooved Luc in the Lux series. We didn’t know any thing about him, but I knew I was fascinated by him.

I’ll start with my one peeve about this book… there wasn’t enough Luc! I wish this had been written in dual POV so we can see inside his head, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be. I really liked Evie though. She was smart, very easy to like and root for, and she made sure to have an open mind throughout the book. I loved her passion for photography. Luc is really easy going most of the times, but do not piss him off because you will regret it. I loved his funny/corny t-shirts he wore throughout, it was a great way to show off more of his personality.

ALSO THERE IS AN F/F COUPLE SJKSHKSJ. Evie’s best friend is bisexual and the book starts out with Heidi dragging Evie to a club so she can meet her crush (which is actually how she meets Luc too). I swear to god if anything happens to Heidi and Emery Imma be pissed.

Lux fans series definitely need to pick this up. This book has everything you loved in the Lux series (except Damon, but he does make a cameo!). This picks up after Opposition and it was awesome to see what happened to the world after the Luxen invaded.

This was a character driven novel (which was fine!) but I do hope we get some more action and plot in the next book. I’m so glad I picked this up as it was completely entertaining and I can’t wait for more.

I would MAYBE recommend this.

Overall, it was very okay. Like, extremely average. Nothing was particularly wrong with the narrator, but oh my goodness, I had trouble with the writing. If I had a nickel for every time the author wrote “the side of Luc’s mouth kicked up” to describe his half smile, I’d be able to buy a house. Also, some of the same interactions occur VERBATIM in the book, which makes me think that the author either thinks I haven’t been paying attention to the ‘banter’, or that the heroine is JUST that dumb. She doesn’t re-write the narrator’s response, she just has her say the SAME EXACT THING.

I got this book because it sounded interesting, and because I was about to embark on a road trip, so I wanted to get a nice, long book. Everything about the book was just plain average. If you’re looking for a book that’ll keep you mildly entertained, but nothing more than that, this is the book for you.

disappointed

the story had so much promise. female lead characters irritated my soul she was so whiny not tough like Katie. Luke was a little too soft when it came to her. did not like how they made demon afraid of Luke for the little pieces that he was in the story. And some things did not make sense like I thought that Dawson and best child was the first female origin so how did this other girl come into play. Imma need them to bring back the girl who voiced the Lux series because she did an amazing job on the male voices this girl made the female and the male sound the exact same
