Publisher's Summary

New York Times best seller JaQuavis Coleman's The Day the Streets Stood Still is an intricate, fast-paced street thriller that tells a bold story of true love, addiction, and murder.

Sean was raised by a hustling, well-connected mother who taught him early about street survival. When she is brutally murdered, Sean isthrust into a cold world all alone, until an old friend of his mother takes Sean under his wing and introduces him to a life of drug dealing at its highest level. Sean becomes King Sean, making a solid name for himself and rising quickly up the drug game's totem pole.

Sean's only weakness is a beauty named Sunny, who is a friend from childhood - and the love of his life. Sunny has a problem with drugs, and as she travels down her own path of addiction, Sean falls victim to the vice as well - and his downward spiral from street fame will be filled with murder, lies, backstabbing, and a struggle to survive.

Walk along the journey with Sunny and Sean as they hit rock-bottom, stealing and lying to support their addiction. Someone will die, but not until the end will the truth be revealed.

Wonderful Read

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you like love stories that have true grit and grime, you will love this book.

Which character – as performed by Cary Hite – was your favorite?

My favorite character was Sean. I liked his sincerity and strength. Sunny was his kryptonite!

If you could rename The Day the Streets Stood Still, what would you call it?

One taste and you can't stop.

Couldn't put it down

What made the experience of listening to The Day the Streets Stood Still the most enjoyable?

The narrator Cary Hite as always is GREAT! The author JaQuavis Coleman too is GREAT. His writing truly takes you into each character and I couldn't wait to read the ending of this book which was truly unexpected. 5 stars all around from me for this one!

What other book might you compare The Day the Streets Stood Still to and why?

Any book with this author and narrator.

What about Cary Hite’s performance did you like?

I was able to truly separate and keep up with each character.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me think of just how blessed I have been and that this life style is probably true for many people.

Any additional comments?

Great portrayal of love, trauma, and addiction

this story was emotionally accurate. I specialize in both trauma and substance use disorder and this book highlights many of the issues that not only the attic but also those connected to them experience. that identifies the frustrations and the seemingly controllable behaviors associated with addiction. it has both empathy, frustration, anger, and love. portrays for the person who struggles with addiction. it also highlights the effects that trauma can have on relationships long term as well as the effects that trauma can have on one's own self portrayal.
