Publisher's Summary

A man with everything.

Michael Malone seems to have it all. A wealthy, loving family. A job that fulfills him. Friends he can count on. But something is missing. He’s spent years watching his brother and close friends get married and start families, but it hasn’t happened for him. When an assignment comes up to investigate fallen Hollywood star Vanessa Hale, he jumps at the chance. She’s gorgeous and potentially deadly. Playing the spy game with her might be just the thing to take his mind off his troubles.

A woman with nothing left to lose.

Vanessa Hale had big dreams that ended in scandal. She returned home with nothing but heartache and the desire to find her mother’s killer. The trail points to someone at Lodge Corp, so taking a job with Julian Lodge’s mysterious company is her best option for finding the truth. While she hunts for a killer during the day, she hopes to find some solace at night in the Club. Meeting the gorgeous, sexy, and seemingly kind Michael Malone, their chemistry sparks in a way she’s never felt before, and Vanessa thinks maybe her luck has finally changed.

A love that might save them both.

When Michael’s true motives are revealed, she will have to find a way to forgive his betrayal. The killer has made Vanessa their next target. Working together and stopping this monster is the only chance for them to have the real love they both deserve.

Michael finally gets his story

I have been a huge fan of the Masters and Mercenaries series. They are all wonderful and Michael and Vanessa story is no exception. They complaint each other wonderfully. This book does have different theme then the other books. It handles the idea of stereotyping, body image and negative press perception. It really makes you think about how people react to pre perceived notions. It is also wonderful to catch up with my old ( and new ) favorite characters. Ian, Charlotte , Hutch, Dani, Finn, Julian, Deke, Ava, JT, Kyle and of course MayBe. I can wait for Deke’s story. And as always Ryan West was perfect.

More please Sir!

I love the Masters and Mercenaries series. Each book is its own story but also contributes to expanding this wonderful universe of hot alpha men with hearts of gold. Lexi Blake weaves a tale that makes you laugh out loud but then sets your blood on fire when things get hot in the bedroom. Makes this reader wish these people and places actually existed! Can’t wait for the next book so I can get my next Ian Taggart fix. Why can’t my boss be more like him?

Seemed a bit Vanilla this time.

I enjoyed the story and the narration as always is perfect, but this seems like more of a vanilla story then anything. Kinda wanted the heat, but it was not bad. I can't wait for the next book.

M&M...the next generation!

I discovered Lexi Blake's Masters and Mercenaries series in Audible Escape a couple of years ago, and I was hopelessly devoted to the series by the 3rd book. The Masters and Mercenaries: Reloaded series focuses on the next generation of operatives while giving us glimpses of Ian Taggart and the other old guys from the original M&M series.

In book 2, "The Dom Identity," Michael Malone poses as shamed actress Vanessa Hale's training dom while he investigates her involvement in missing money at the company where she works. They feel an instant attraction, but they both have doubts about the other. The media branded actress Vanessa Hale a money-grubbing harlot after the death of her affluent octogenarian husband, so Michael doesn't know if he can trust her. And, once Vanessa discovers and accepts Michael's true identity, she is hesitant to enter into a relationship with Michael because he is from the wealthy Malone Oil family.

Ryan West, as always, does a top-notch job with the narration.

I have read and or listened to every book in the McKay-Taggart world, and over forty books later, I still haven't had enough.
