Publisher's Summary
By beloved USA Today bestselling author Joanna Shupe, the fourth installment in the Fifth Avenue Rebels series about a secret affair between a free-spirited heiress and an uptight duke which turns more passionate than either could have imagined.
A rebellious heiress.
A duke in dire straits.
An anonymous midnight tryst.
To escape the shackles of marriage, Nellie Young purposely ruined her reputation a long time ago. Now she dedicates herself to hedonistic pleasures only, like kissing a handsome stranger in the ocean under the moonlight...
To save his estate, the proper Duke of Lockwood must marry the perfect bride—wealthy, with an unblemished reputation. While in New York he’s the perfect gentleman, and no one knows he’s suppressing his darkest desires. The last thing he needs is another scandal.
Except Nellie sees through Lockwood’s charade, straight to the real man underneath. This uptight duke is far more than he lets on, and she can’t resist him. Their secret affair turns scorching, far more than either expected. And when his beautiful rebel finds an unconventional cause, Lockwood has to decide if he’s willing to sacrifice everything to keep her.

My thoughts on The Duke GeTs Even
I didn't enjoy Kit Swann. I did like Timothy Campbell. I think it would have been better with one narrator

One book for the price of two.
I could only listen to half of this book, the half narrated by Timothy Campbell. He is so good that if he were a woman he’d be Kate Reading. The female narrator has an annoying Midwestern accent, so I skipped the parts read by her.
As for the story…I’ve noticed that this author writes really great heroes. The guys are just about perfect. But her “heroines” are across the board obnoxious. She’s apparently trying to portray an independent spirit constrained by the times in which they lived, with some women’s lib thrown in to signal their superiority. Instead, the heroines are spoiled, reckless brats who crash through the plot leaving a big mess for someone else (her father or the hero) to clean up. A flawed character who learns from past mistakes is appealing. The ones who don’t are just annoying. I think I’m done wasting money on this author.

I couldn’t love it more
This story is perfection. It is poignant and real. I love the gilded age timeframe and the historical references. The love story is unique with a complex couple. Thank you Joanna Shupe for writing a beautiful book. The narration was excellent.

American Dutchess
I loved both of the main characters and the narrators! A great conclusion to the series. You could easily listen and follow the story even if you haven’t listened to the second or third books.

Raunchy
Unnecessary foul and raunchy talk and descriptive sex scenes are so off-putting… please just stop!

Hot scenes, and good conclusion to the story
I enjoyed this book. I liked both main characters. They were both strong, independent and well matched. Their romantic encounters were hot and I enjoyed his resolution to be with her.
The ending was a little rushed for me.
The male narrator was fantastic. He was really perfect for the part. The female narrator was not very pleasant to listen to, but after half of the book I got used to it.

Excellent
Great end to the series. Very sweet book. I really enjoyed the 2 narrators. The male voice added depth to the character with tone and inflection and some just very male sounds. Cried when her and her aunt were taking towards the end.

Nelly and Andrew = Perfection
Wonderful story and excellent narration as these two soulmates slowly fall in love and fight for and with each other. Kit and Timothy brought these two to life!
