As always the author has a way with words that just pulls you right into the book. I feltwhat each character felt. Well written, and well read. Thanks for the spellbinding entertainment.. This is the third time I have read this book over the years, and I always enjoy it no matter how many times I read it.

Great story

Yes, pun intended! This story is full of magic but more than that; it’s the way Terry Brooks writes that is truly magical… the words describe everything so clearly but not so that it becomes boring and you just want to get back to the story. You can see & feel through the characters’ experience’s. It’s a huge adventure from beginning to end yet there’s so much more going on than just a physical journey. It’s a must read for all- it has everything!

Obviously, Brooks has has some detractors for similarities of more famous novels, however, Wishsong is definitely an enjoyable listen for those looking for some escapism. Garrett Jax was a favorite character of mine growing up, so it was nice to listen to this story again though Audibles.

The nigh-immortal druid Allanon joins Shea Ohmsford's grandson Will in a mission to stop a demon horde invasion of the world in this second installment of the 'Shannara' series of Terry Brooks books. Teaming up with an Elf-maiden, Will unites the races to battle evil.
The author continues to demonstrate unsurpassed wordsmithing, and his plot is as consequential as the 'Stop the Warlock Lord' mission was in Book One.. but his execution isn't as whimsical & swashbuckling as it was in that first entry. He also includes a noticeable amount of sexual innuendo in this book - making it quite a bit more "M-for Mature" than 'The Sword of Shannara'.

As to presentation: Scott Brick's diction, pacing, tone, and voice-acting are typically impressive.. but his oddly arrogant timbre & cadence are pretty annoying in this recording. Accelerating playback speed is essential.

Altogether, 'The Elfstones of Shannara' is an incredibly entertaining book - rating 6.5/10 stars - I'm merely saying that it's a little bit less effective than Book One for Brooks fans. Regardless, spend the Credit.

[Note: I appreciate the author's willingness to kill off important characters in combat encounters. It adds much-appreciated tension to the tale. These characters are in genuine jeopardy]
