Publisher's Summary

These are the things empaths need to know to heal from the abuse of a narcissist.

Empaths attract negative people. It can sometimes feel like you have a target painted on your back. No matter where you go, fully intending to avoid all drama, they will find you. Before you even know it, you’re already their prey.

It isn’t fair that you get treated as a personal emotional dumping ground.

Many empaths grew up with a narcissist parent or parents. You grew up being emotionally abused. And because of the abuse you faced growing up, you make sure you provide the care and love others need because you know how it feels to not have it.

Narcissists love empaths because know an empath will shower them with love and try to satisfy their every need. And because of this, all too often, empaths find themselves being abused and taken advantage of by a narcissist.

Empaths and narcissists are on opposite sides of the spectrum. They attract each other like magnets. But the truth is they are a toxic duo. Remember when you first met a certain narcissist? Remember how charming and loving and attentive they seemed? Remember the butterflies you felt in your stomach every time you saw them? They lured you in like a fisherman.

Then as they got more comfortable with you, their mask began to fall. Their true colors began to show.

Suddenly everything is all about them and you have to cater to their needs. They hurt you again, and again, and again, and again, never taking your feelings into consideration.

Most people would have left, but as an empath, you stayed and forgave them constantly. On top of that, you, being the caretaker you are, believed you could change or heal them with your love.

Most empaths believe that by putting up with a narcissist, eventually things will work out.

Here’s the truth: it won’t get better, but it can get worse. Putting up with a narcissist and/or learning new “tricks” to temporarily deal with a narcissist is not going to change the fact that you are a victim of their abuse.

If a narcissist is not willing to help themselves first, there’s nothing an empath can do.

The best way to deal with a narcissist is to put yourself first.

You’ll discover how to do that in The Empath and the NarcissistThe Empath and the Narcissist will also help you discover how to come to terms with your narcissistic acquaintance, combat common tactics narcissists use to control and manipulate you, and how to get on the road to recovery and healing.

Don’t waste another second of your precious time trying to convince yourself that you’re okay with how things are.

The Empath and the Narcissist

I really enjoyed this book, I have a much better understanding of the abuse I suffered through out my 25 year marriage, and it's very nice to know your not alone and your not crazy. This book was like looking in the window of my life. I would recommend it to anyone that even thinks they may be with a narcissist. I didn't even know what a narcissist was until after when I was in therapy, my Therapist was asking me a bunch of questions about my ex and she said that out of the 20 questions she asked, my ex had 16 of the characteristics of a narcissist. They are real and they will destroy you if you let them.

I cried a lot when I hear the narrators saying my situation. The writer really knew.

Reassuring

I am currently an empath who just left a long term relationship with a narcissist. It reassured me that I did the right thing as I have been lost and degraded for years. I am currently seeking the path to healing and growing. I suggest this book for those who are struggling. This was an easy listen and completed in a day.

Great book

Wow this book helped me understand the whole situation I was in for 6 years I got out a year and a half ago and I’m still confused why someone who claimed to love me would treat me like that. Not all the moments were bad but this book had almost everything I went through in it and I’m so glad I’m not alone in experiencing this. This book helped me understand all of it. It’s very unfortunate that some people are not willing to get help and make their lives better but I’m glad I got the help I needed and got my life in order after this persons attempt at knocking me down, making me weak and taking so much from me. Very good book and I highly recommend!

Sad but COMPLETELY TRUE...

Well explained, well throughout and well supported, based on factual evidence. Sadly for myself, every example was a TRUTH in my reality...

The narrator is a robot!?!

It is painful to listen to this .. it’s actually impossible. I couldn’t get through the first five minutes. It’s clearly an auto generated computer reading. Which is extremely ironic considering the topic of this book!!!

this book is terrible

the reader is mechanical and robotic, to start. which wouldn't be an issue if the content were good, but the points made are superficial and it reads more like an u educated feiend teting to give you advice rahter than a scientific, self-help book. I would not recommend.

was just ok

I didn't like that it was solely based on a romantic relationship. she rarely spoke about other relationships you may have with a narcissist.
was hard to follow as my romantic relationship is not my issue...

Boring

Would have loved to explore the psychology & origin of the behaviours. Rather, it was list of complaints for her personally encountered narcissists. Glorifying her victimhood & blaming failed relationships on poor communication. Boring boring boring.
