Publisher's Summary

Siege of Terra Book 8, Part 2

Volume II picks up right where the first left off, with cataclysmic events building up to an epic conclusion that will shake the very galaxy to its core.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

The final battle aboard the Warmaster’s flagship has begun in earnest, as Sanguinius defies his fate and the Dark Gods in an attempt to end his brother’s life, and the war along with it.

THE STORY

Terra is besieged. The outcome of the war lies on a knife edge. The Warmaster Horus’ bloody seven-year crusade has led to this – the cradle of humanity, where he is to kill his father, the Emperor.

With the war at this critical juncture, Sanguinius, primarch of the loyalist Blood Angels, braves the horrors of the Warmaster’s flagship, The Vengeful Spirit, with a single purpose in mind – to slay his brother Horus, decapitate the Heresy once and for all, and stop the forces of Chaos from taking Terra.

But at the whim of a Warmaster fallen so far from grace, the Dark Gods will not make Sanguinius’ task easy. As the war edges towards its explosive, bloody conclusion, events are about to unfold that could either save humanity or plunge it headlong into an eternity of darkness.

Good but probably could have been shorter.

This book kept cycling through some of the same tropes that the rest of the siege of Terra books keep repeating, and it just feels like filler.
Examples: selling their lives for the highest cost…

Otherwise I’ve been really enjoying this series. The voice acting and most of the writing is too notch. I really enjoy some of the similes and metaphors the author works in to fight scenes.

Both end and death books have been very long playtimes so I can only wonder what could be left for book three.

I could fade away into this story

This series has been nothing short of superb. We started this journey back in 2019 with the solar war and we’re so close to the end… or should I say the death. This book is fantastic, excellent narration, amazing storytelling and an absolutely compelling cast of characters. We’re so close to ending this journey now and I look forward to seeing the conclusion to this masterpiece of a series in the coming months. 10/10.

Great but too much?

It's a great book and certainly tying things up but I did feel like it's a bit to much especially with a 3rd book coming. J.K is fantastic as ever and certainly lends to the coherence of the tale. I feel like I know what D.A. was going for in the lay out and the story telling but in the end, I started to care way more for the side stories over the main storyline. Again, love the series and this one is no exception but I am really looking forward to how the 3rd book takes the wheel.

Mythological!

Brilliantly written and narrated. Ties up a lot of loose ends, answers some of 40k’s biggest questions, and opens many more.
After all these years it’s hard to believe the story is almost at an end. Fantastic book.

Too much

I get where the author was going in trying to make it a sweeping epic, and I love Dan Abnetts books. This was too much though in my opinion. There were to many cuts between character perspectives, and it felt like a chore to get where it was going. There were excellent parts, but it was just too long by far, and dragged in places. it's still a must read/listen, but I hope follow ups can be tightened up some.
