Publisher's Summary
There's been a major breakthrough in the world's oldest research experiment. For over 2,500 years, Buddhist meditators have investigated the human psyche. Now, with the help of modern neuroscience, we have gained an unprecedented understanding of how the brain responds to meditation practice - which gives you powerful tools for changing your own brain for more happiness, love, and wisdom. With The Enlightened Brain, Dr. Rick Hanson shows you how to restore the calm, contented, and caring state that is your brain's natural condition.
Includes guided practices for strengthening mindfulness, bringing peace to anger and anxiety, deepening meditation, releasing ego, and much more.

Beginner focused
This topic is of passionate interest to me and I was expecting to dive deeper into the science behind how the awareness of meditation/mindfulness and neuroscience can provide an expanded access to living at our fullest.
I’m on chapter 7 and there are way too many beginner practices directed to someone that has never heard of the topic. It slows down the book and I’m loosing interest - I am not a beginner in this topic, and although I respect that we are all in different places - it would have been great if the author had designed this book with this in mind as well.

i love this book
i absolutely love this book. listened to it a couple of times, and went back and created a yoga class sequence for a student of mine that was 10 weeks. i grew, and he grew and loved it as well. great things to take into everyday life, and great ways to get the right perspective for breakthroughs and "revelations of the obvious".

Not for listening in the car.
Consider that there are meditations in this book and therefor lots of dead air and not for listening in the car.

Not what the title implies
This book has nothing to do with enlightenment. It seems more of a self healing book

ok
I was enjoying it until he started talking really slowly about the last day, last minutes of your life.......meh not really something I want to focus that much on especially when I'm trying to find ways to relax. there's a lot of empty spots with no narration and then when he starts talking again, it was startling. not for me.

The title of the book is not entirely appropriate
Because of this title, I was really expecting a deep dive into the science behind meditation. It´s not what I found. The book is slanted towards beginners, with lots of meditations (not useful to listening while driving) and very little about science...

Keep going!
Thank you Rick! I just finished this audio book and am going to start over and listen again. Wonderful explanations and guidance for those interested in having some enlightenment in your life. The important advice at the end is to keep going with your meditations and practices. Enlightenment makes life easier.

A really good therapy session
The narrator's voice is so relaxing!
I would definitely recommend listening to this book and try to practice the meditation exercises along with it.
