Story
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Please Do the Whole Series, Ms. Pike!!!!
OMG!! What a difference! Already love the story and own the book. But I will purchase every single audiobook version Ms. Rosamund Pike does for this series. Dream come true! This is gravitas! This is voice acting at its finest! Even the deepness of her voice serves all the male characters really well! She can do it all! Wow! Wow! Wow! Couldn't handle the original voice actors. This! This is a game changer! Please, please, please, Macmillan Audio... do what it takes. Pike for the series!!! *Sigh*

Rosamund Pike is perfect for this story
The original audiobooks were good, despite the dated quality and I am a big fan of the two readers for their work with Brandon Sanderson, but listening to Rosalind's voices and inflection and intensity revived this book in a way that shocked me. I was never the biggest fan of Eye of the World but I hung on every word.

Just WOW!
My only disappointment with this version narrated by Rosamund Pike is that only the first book in the series has her voice. She made it come alive for me, every character had their own voice and their individuality shone. I'm now hoping and praying that she goes on to narrate the second book as well because I'll buy it in a heartbeat!

PLEASE ROSAMUND! Do MORE!!
No one needs to tell you this is an incredible collection of books. However, you need me to tell you that Rosamund Pike’s narration is absolutely phenomenal. Incredible. Beautiful. The inflection and tone, the voices and rhythm, are perfection. And if it’s a little slow for some just speed it up! However I particularly enjoy her cadence which gives emphasis where needed and time to soak in the details. I LOVE her voice. It’s so beautiful. And so is this book. I feel like I’m falling in love! Thank you, and please Rosamund do more for us!

A fresh take on a classic
*The Wheel of Time* has a special place in my heart, as it does for countless fans around the world. I read the (paper) books during one of the most challenging periods of my life, and I honestly think I would not be where I am today if not for the hope I got from these books.
That being said, I honestly tried to like the Kramer and Reading recordings for years. I’ve listened through all the books multiple times, trying to figure out exactly why I do not enjoy their work on these books. I know they have legions of fans but, for some reason, they never worked for me. These are highly charged, extremely emotional books, and while I think Reading puts a fair bit of emotion into her performances, Kramer does not.
Once again, this is purely my personal opinion.
Pike gave me what I had hoped to get when I first bought the WOT audios. The breathless anticipation, the riveting action sequences, the tension, the drama, the romance, the thrill. The Prologue, for instance, is an extremely tense scene. There is a tremendous amount of history behind every word that is written in that one chapter, not to mention the amount of drama — Kramer’s reading felt a little… lax. Pike’s voice, on the other hand, flowed. The dialogue is emotional, the descriptions are vivid, and she has a tremendous amount of control in how she portrays these characters. The ending of the Prologue, one of the most dramatic closing scenes in any WOT book, is builds like an orchestra with Pike’s performance, the tension climbing and climbing before coming crashing down with all the force of a tsunami.
Once more, I laud Kramer and Reading for lending their voices to an incredible series of books. Personally, I struggled to enjoy their performance, and Rosamund Pike’s voice worked like magic for me. She gives a vivid, fresh face to a classic tale, and I think she does a wonderful job.
I sincerely hope she goes on to narrate the rest of the books.

Daniel Henney should read the male voices
I really like Rosamud Pikes narration of this book as a alternative to the original. I still like the original as well. I think if they plan to redo all the other books, it would be awesome to see someone like Daniel Henney or one of the other male actors from the Amazon series to narrate the male character in the same fashion as the original version that Michael Kramer and Kate Reading did.

Beautiful Narration
I’m a huge fan of the original Kramer/Reading audiobook narration. I always will be. But this lovely performance by Rosamund Pike has been an utter joy to listen to. Her voice is so well suited to reading this kind of story that I found myself revisiting chapters just to hear her marvelous take on Robert Jordan’s prose.

This reading is exceptional
Michael Kramer and Kate Reading will always have a special place in my heart for their narration, but Rosamund Pike absolutely knocked it out of the park. This is a reading that elevates the story being told in every possible way, it adds a certain gravitas that is missing in the original recordings.
I really hope she does the rest of the books. I may already have all 14 of them, but I absolutely would spend 14 more credits for the rest of the series done by her.
5 stars!!!

First off, I work as a professional audio editor and have worked on numerous New York Times Best Selling author’s audiobooks that are available here on Audible. I have have worked on hundreds of different narrators from professional narrators, to self read author reads and actor reads, to podcast host ect.
While Miss Pike is not a terrible narrator (I’ve certainly worked on worse actor reads) she does not even come close to even touching the Michael Kramer and Kate Redding performances. Her pacing is way off and she goes from completely monotone where she’s putting me to sleep one moment, to shrilly screeching the next moment. Her lack of vocal ability with voicing different characters made me have to turn it off after only 3 chapters.
As a long time Wheel of Time fan, I have never felt myself falling asleep or even so much as catching my mind drifting. This is largely due to both Michael Kramer and his wife Kate’s incredible narrations. They truly brought Jordan’s world of the Wheel of time to life for me. Each character has their own voice and I can tell exactly who they are at any point picking up from either reader…
For new listeners do yourself a favor and don’t waste your time with this version. Listen to the original.

Exceptionally performed
Even though I’ve read the entire series many times, I found Rosamund Pike’s rendition of The Eye of the World absolutely enchanting. She manages to inject uniqueness to each character without sounding contrived. I found myself completely lost in another world because of her storytelling. My only complaint is that I don’t know if she’ll be doing the rest of the series. Please please please make it happen!

Masterful narration gives new life to a classic
This new narration gives EOTW the weight and gravitas it deserves. It's like stepping into this world again for the first time. Like most people, I am a fan of the originals and am happy to have both. It's wonderful to hear a new interpretation, and it's a breathtaking performance. It's asking a lot but I really hope she does the whole series. Wow!

Absolutely Amazing
I hope Rosamund Pike narrates the rest of the wheel of time series. One of the best audio books I’ve ever listened too.

An old love with new narration. A must buy.
I have loved this series my whole life and this narration has rekindled the fierce fire of passion I felt towards it. If you are reading this and wondering which one you should buy I tell you this one my friend. Rosamund Pike is such a wonder to listen to.
A lifelong passion rediscovered.
I was barely 13 when I started reading the wheel of time.. Every year a book. That long wait between publishing. I remember where I was when I heard Jordan had died, I had just started reading a Knife of dreams. And I had cried as hard as I would have loosing a friend...
With the series out, I felt the tug to return to these books though I knew I didn't have the time as I had before. Audiobooks were the answer, but I didn't like the original narration I have to confess. It didn't feel the same as reading. Then I saw this. And it was everything I hoped for and more. Rosamund Pike gave it the feel and atmosphere I wanted it to have. Even with one narrator, the characters stand out. She reads it clearly and unrushed, the accents rich and colourful, the emotions reaching your ears through a spectacular performance. I wish with all my being that she will continue reading this series. It is a lot, I know. But wow.
I read a lot of critism about the length of Jordan's books these days from people who clearly think they could have done better. They clearly haven't because I don't see thousands of epic length series on the bookstores shelves. If you have heard of that and are hesitant, I want you to ask yourself this:
Do you love a journey without being anxious about the end? Do you love fantasy, high fantasy, epic fantasy. Fantasy from the masters. Feist. Donaldson. Goodkind. Brooks.
Are you ready to be pulled into a world so vast and rich that it comes with an encyclopedia?
If so. Then this is the series for you. Ignore those moaning about it's length and it's editing and how it should be shorter. What's the rush? Why would you want to rush a series as magnificent as this one.

Some big issues with the sound
Great overall, but the gap in volume between whispering, speaking and yelling is way too big. I constantly had to turn it down when there was yelling (it's very loud) and back up afterward because some spoken lines were impossible to hear.
Besides that the reading is very pleasant to listen to, and Rosamund Pike is good at giving each character a distinct voice. Bonus points for getting Moiraine's voice from the show adaptation! That made it a very easy transition from show to book for me.
The TV adaptation changed the plot and characterization a lot but I found that I truly enjoy getting two different takes on the same story.
tl;dr very interesting story, great reading voice, but big sound/volume issues.

I really can't with the acting
I really wish the narrator didn't try to do the characters' voices and do a whole oscar winning performance at every line. It's so unnecessary and overplayed when I'm just trying to follow the story. Cannot get through the first couple chapters because I'm cringing too hard to focus on the text.

Fantastic!
A great fantasy epic with an awesome narration. It can seem confusing at times due to the number of characters but each is perfectly defined. I strongly recommend.
