Publisher's Summary

Lambda Literary award winner and national bestselling author Alexandria Bellefleur returns with a steamy sapphic rom-com about a quiet bookseller and a romance novel cover model who agree to a modern-day marriage of convenience...

Tansy Adams’ greatest love is her family’s bookstore, passed down from her late father. But when it comes to actual romance… Tansy can’t get past the first chapter. Tired of her stepfamily’s questions about her love life, Tansy invents Gemma, a fake girlfriend inspired by the stunning cover model on a bestselling book. They’ll never actually meet, so what’s the harm in a little fib? Yet when real-life Gemma crosses Tansy’s path, her white lie nearly implodes.

Gemma van Dalen is a wild child, the outcast of her wealthy family, and now the latest heir to Van Dalen Publishing. But the title comes with one tiny condition: she must be married in order to inherit. When Gemma discovers a beautiful stranger has been pretending to date her for months, she decides to take the charade one step further—and announces their engagement.

Gemma needs a wife to meet the terms of her grandfather’s will and Tansy needs money to save her struggling bookstore. A marriage could be mutually beneficial, if they can fool everyone into thinking it’s a love match. Unexpected sparks fly as Tansy and Gemma play the role of affectionate fiancées, and suddenly the line between convenient arrangement and real feelings begins to blur. But the scheming Van Dalen family won’t give up the company without a fight, and Gemma and Tansy’s newfound happiness might get caught in the fallout…

YA feel, and not in a good way

Unfortunate that Bellefleur seems to be the mainstream WLW author. In the same way 50 Shades is the tragic rep of BDSM lit, readers are missing out on much better works. Yes, the characters in this book communicate, yet misunderstanding and angst abound. The characters are not well developed, and come off as juvenile. Since Bellefleur's first book which was definitely the best of the lot, each release has been worse than the previous one. I did appreciate that the sex scenes were more explicit than in her previous books, but without the character development it is still a miss. Disappointment.

Fun and angsty romance

This book had me laughing and then, infuriated at times. It’s a sweet story with scenes that made me want to protect the MCs from the jerks in the story. Highly recommend

Another winner from Bellefleur

I loved this book and the narrator. So good all you can do to understand is listen to it yourself.

Couldn’t Finish

Couldn’t finish due to Gemma’s narration. It was a really annoying voice fry. It also didn’t suit her personality. It just threw me off. The storyline is ok. The idea is good, the book is just a little dull. Whenever you think it’s getting interesting, it’s short lived. There’s so much potential here, but just too much filler. And the love story doesn’t have an interesting development, just an interesting start.

cute story, kinda meh execution

the author turns a fun trope into a fun story in a plaudible way. the charcaters are a bit awkward, tripping over their situations ad much as they trip over things in the story. it ends up feeling very juvinile and stilting. i dont expect people to always be well spoken but pausing mid tension to go into their thoughts and motivations ad nauseum is.. nauseating. so its okay, the author has great potential, but ... could have had just as much story with half the words and much better story flow. leaving room for other events or growth or playfulness.

All the feels!

I loved this story! It really did make me feels all the feels! It was sweet and heartbreaking at times and funny! I’m a huge fan of her writing! She writes characters that you want to be friends with! I love that characters from each of her books tie in somehow with each story! I also love this narrator! I’m sad I finished! Can’t wait until the next one!

West is the direction…

There people who will undoubtedly make you nauseous with anger but it is a fantastic book. The feelings between the two main characters grows and is great to see.

Must Must Must read

Love the book. Adore the Author. Narrator is incredible!! Really helps to identify ( brilliantly written) characters, and certainly conveys the intense emotions. This will definitely be one of those that I will reread…..and reread…..I am really happy I heard the audio version first. Like reading a book, with beautiful illustrations. Now..onto the book itself. Really a brilliant story, with characters you will love…and those you will love to hate.

Another hit from Bellefleur

I’ve listened to Bellefleur’s three previous books and this is another hit.

The fake fiancée trope gets a bit of a fresh take here, but let’s be honest, it’s a trope.

Smartly written with good pacing, this is a fun queer romcom with just enough heat.

The characters are well built and diverse. Foreshadowing is used wisely but leaving some surprises, and of course, we get the HEA.

Having lived in the Seattle area, I love reliving fond memories, and the mention of one of our favorite restaurants, Purple Cafe, made me smile and laugh. However, readers unfamiliar with Seattle won’t have a hard time picturing the landscape and lifestyle.

The use of the same narrator for all four books, who has a distinctive vocal styling that sets her apart from the pack, makes these books feel like being with an old friend, comforting and relaxing me into the story. At the same time, she is able to create distinct voices for a wide variety of characters, and voices them well.

Most definitely worth spending my credit on!
