Publisher's Summary

A lesbian medical romance about the powerful breakthroughs we can't always see.

Nadia Keating has barely started her cardiothoracic fellowship training, but she already has the archetype nailed - she's direct, uncompromising, and suffering from a God complex.

Before she can focus on her impressive research, deeply closeted Nadia has a personal project: getting her inconvenient attraction to women out of her system. She picks a stranger online for a one-night stand.

Ashley Rylan, the chief of Nadia's department, is her polar opposite - sweet, agreeable, and soft-spoken - and the stranger Nadia unwittingly chooses.

The two women's meeting is a hostile disaster, and they would love nothing more than to never see each other again. However, their paths keep colliding as Nadia embarks on an ambitious experiment that could lead to a historic medical breakthrough.

Despite warring egos and the secrets they keep, their connection is powerful and growing. Maybe having sex would help them get over their distraction at work? Or would that just ruin everything?

Contains mature themes.

Why such good reviews?

This book showed some promise at the start when the protagonists met in an unusual way. However, after this beginning, there was little to no character development. Throughout the story, one character was pleasant, but a pushover, and the other character seemingly represented the archetypical surgeon with an annoying temperament and a personality that showed virtually no redeeming values. Other than their being professional colleagues, it was difficult to understand how the main characters could possibly be compatible, let alone attracted to each other.
The author clearly knows her stuff with regard to surgical techniques, but the repeated descriptions of surgeries were too frequent and detracted from the flow of the story after a while. Overall, too much time was spent on the details of medical procedures and too little time was actually spent developing either the characters or a compelling story line.

Entertaining

Nadia , while a talented surgeon is irredeemably obnoxious w/o a like able personal quality.
Ashley is Chief of Cardio-thoracic surgery yet is more often than not has the backbone of a wet sponge.

Yet somehow, okay, let’s be real, Abby makes it an enjoyable listen.

So Good!

I loved this book. I really didn’t want it to end. More Faith Prize, please! And can all her future audiobooks be narrated by Abby Craden???
I like books about doctors. I like the ice Queen melting theme. And this has both. I also found entertainment in some of the other characters. I will seek out more books by this author as long as they keep coming.
Abby is excellent here. Is it possible that she gets better and better??
Thank you for this book!

A medical romance

A throughly enjoyable narrated romance. The medical content made story flow and the characters were well narrated. This is the first book of Faith Prize I have listened to but was well worth it.

Disappointed

Love Abby C. But the story was disappointing and dragged on and on and on.

WOW!!!

I am a sucker of medical lesbian fiction, and this one was a pleasure and I could not let it go…
Abby Craden’s narration was the cherry on this wonderful cake.
Don’t miss it.

Someone did their homework

Medical/surgical and organ doner research was done for this novel. My issue is that Nadia doesn’t really grow. She is still a my way or the highway type. And still a bully. I did love the evolution of the other characters and the hope for the future.

I’m officially a fan

I have to admit that I’ve spent the past few days losing sleep listening and falling in love with the story, narrator, and author. I only picked this up because it was a suggestion and now I want a printed copy. Great story and I am about to search Google to see if the story continues. Worth the credit or the dollars.

Fun

Fun, light - hearted, enjiyed the dichotomy of the characters and their development. It was worth the credits and the narrator did this book justice as I've come to expect with her readings 🙂

I loved everything about this story!

The character development, and the blend of romance with the medical drama had me spellbound. I think this would make a great movie!
