À propos de cet audio

Year after year, Finland is named the "Happiest Country on Earth". What's their secret?

If you ask a Finn, they will likely be as baffled as you are. That’s why Melanie Dower, an expat who has been living in Finland for the past decade, has taken up the charge. Her vantage as an outsider entrenched in Finnish culture uniquely positions her to identify the keys to Finnish happiness that elude the rest of the world and that Finns take for granted. From sauna to strong social safety nets, Finnish life is made up of a constellation of habits and structures that leave its residents relaxed, healthy, and fulfilled.

In this short guide, Melanie lays out the surprisingly simple and often accessible steps to living as the Finns do.

This audiobook makes me want to visit, and maybe even move to, Finland. Very informative, beautifully written and very well narrated.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Finnish Guide to Happiness. This audiobook provides a fascinating glimpse into the Finnish way of life and their approach to happiness. I was deeply inspired by their minimalistic lifestyle, the emphasis on thoughtful design, and the strong sense of community.

The safety and independence they offer children, like walking to school alone from age seven, is remarkable and speaks volumes about their societal trust. I also found their gratitude toward paying taxes and their cohesive relationship with the government truly admirable.

This book is a refreshing exploration of balance, contentment, and intentional living. Highly recommended for anyone seeking new perspectives on happiness and well-being!

Not only does it touch on how to become more happier in your own life and how to get over anxiety and stress. It makes me want to visit Finland.

Amazing

Great book from someone who moved to Finland. If it were written by a finn, it might be too blunt.

Majority of the reasons attributed to being happya seems to be deeply rooted in Finnish culture

I found just listening to this book made me feel more relaxed. I enjoyed the authors insights and it reminded me of the little things that we can do daily to make us happy in this busy world.

firstly, I adore the narrator, Saskia. such a talent.
second, this book is pure practical advice, delivered in such a way that you can't help but a) want to move to Finland, and b)come away feeling happy just to have read it. I am part Finnish/Danish and this book confirms and explains so much about how and who we are.

Fin for the win

Many interesting details of why the Finns are consistently ranked the happiest people in the world. It leaves out serious commentary, such as why their birth rate is very low, despite all the advantages given to parents. Also, their national obesity rate is fairly high (but lower than USA or New Zealand) despite promotion of healthy food in schools.

However, it convinced me I could have lived happily in Finland if I’d relocated with a job like the author’s family. Probably not so fulfilling for tourists according to the author’s report that the Finns are very reserved and don’t interact with strangers.

One of the best points is to get outside every day, despite the weather. No bad weather, only bad clothes.

Brief and entertaining look at strong points of Finland’s culture

I really enjoyed the book, the narration, the length and the content. It gives a detailed description of the workings of Finnish society from education to recreation, from the Finnish mentally to the food from the eyes of a New Zealander living in Finland (after the initial culture shock). Her love and appreciation of the country and the people shines through.

Excuse me while I go recommend this book to all of my psychotherapy clients. I haven't gotten to the end yet, but the trajectory is promising. I'll update my review once I've finished, should my opinion change.

Brilliant, lovely, grounding
