Publisher's Summary

What happens when cultivation meets mad science?

Lu Jie woke up in a world filled with scheming sects, arrogant young masters, and the mad chase for the immortal heavens. He wanted none of it, and soon finds himself beaten bloody in a spar he didn't remember and treated as less than worthless.

But his plan to escape the sect is interrupted by an old Alchemist's pills that heal him within moments—a magical cure.

These medicines ignite the flame of curiosity to learn true magic in him, rekindling his love of discovery. Lu Jie sets out to study the immutable truths hidden within the world, and soon finds an all new path of cultivation that could take him to the very top.

Time to make some drugs... err... "alchemy pills".

Don't miss the start of an epic Xianxia Cultivation Series perfect for fans of Beware of Chicken and Cradle. The series features weak-to-strong power progression, a light scientific approach to magic, tons of alchemy, spirit beast companions, and so much more.

A great listen, 10/10 reccomended

I absolutely loved this story. if you liked Beware of Chicken, you'd like this one. This definitely has some significant similarities to BoC but is still definitely different enough to keep this fresh and interesting. Pair that with some awesome narration, this is well worth a listen

Solid cultivator story

This cultivator story has a lot of good qualities to it. You’ll like the pace, and it was good. The plot seems interesting. And there is a decent amount of twists and turns. She connected together nicely.

My only complaint is with the performance in the pronunciation of key not Chi and saying that they use the word over and over and over and over in the book I am surprised that there’s narration past please Mr. narrator I like your work if you can fix this one thing, I will give it five stars

You gotta check this one out

I’m not sure why anyone would have complaints about this book, it’s funny, interesting, very well written and well narrated, has lots of fun new takes on the cultivation fantasy with a quirky mc. Lots of fun and kept me highly invested throughout. Pavi is a great narrator and I’m looking forward hearing more from him and to book 2

the rat ruined it

would've been significantly better if the rat wasn't so incredibly annoying.
it's very grating to slog through scenes with it.

Good but...

it felt like a very long prologue, which I can get over so long as the next book picks up the pace with action / progress.

The problem I have is this, because of the way book 1 was executed, I can't predict the actual style of the story for book 2. Is there going to be more action (I personally hope so but thats just me) or less? Will the scope of the story widen (by that I mean a bigger scope for the settings and more characters)?

The book was passable as a very VERY long prologue, although the ending of it--despite being made to wait unreasonably long--was indeed satisfying. Furthermore, the twist was also unique and interesting. However book 2 needs to be a few steps up in terms or pacing and intrigue.

I'll be picking up book 2, frankly I want to see if this author will come through or not with this story--I want to believe he will, its not too late to either. Book 1 tested my patience, but the faster paced ending and twists are enough for me to give book 2 a chance.
